sorry for long title.
okay, I've a question that has been bugging me.
when using X-Large shield boosters, which rig is the better choice?
On one hand, we have the Capacitor Control Circuit, which increases passive cap regeneration, and on the other, we have the Core Defense Capacitor Safeguard for decreasing your active shield tanking costs.
With X-Large boosters 3 Safeguard rigs could effectively decrease boosting cost by ~25%, which saves you a lot of cap. With 3 Cap Control Circuits increases cap regeneration by up to ~30%, which is great when you have other cap usages, such as turrets or AB.
I understand that one is not going to simply perma-boost a X-Large shield booster, but both rigs seems right in their own respect; they just work differently, with CCC working better when not boosting, and CDCS works better when you're boosting.
So I'm bringing my dilemma here to the forums to discuss with you experts.

Note: these are tech I rigs. Note II: math is not exact. Just a guesstimate

CCC are esponentially useful if you add up low slot modules for increasing cap regen (e.g. power diaonostic II) so i think this is the reason to chose CCC or not.

Assuming I am not using any other cap regen modules, would you still prefer CCC over Safeguard in the case of X-Large Shield Booster? |

If you want to speed tank your XL boosting ship, forget the CDCS rigs because of sig radius bloom. In my books that makes the CDCS very niche - I'd even use Semiconductor Memory Cell over those.
There are some few setups that benefit from CDCS. I don't remember which those were though. Possibly the large shield boosting exploration Tengu or Sleipnir. |

Right, I have thought about the disadvantage of having that larger sig radius. So it would seem that a larger sig radius means more damage taken, which in turn requires you to boost more often, therefore counteracting the benefits of lower boosting cost. |

CCC , symply because you need a faster cap regen since you are going to pulse that shield booster |

Safeguard rigs are best when paired up with a cap booster, basically allowing you to permarun your XL Shield Booster for as long as you have cap charges. If you're running off pure cap regen, CCC or semiconductor rigs are better. Is this sig EVE related? |

Alternately, use the new XL booster that uses cap charges instead of cap |

For my ratting SNI I use 2 CSG and 1 Defense Core Solidifier (Takes XL booster from 4 sec to 3.4 sec) rigs and a gist-c xl booster. I am sure that if I had a better GIST booster, I could be stable....
Stable XL booster w/ ab? Oh man that is a HUGE tank. (considering its a Scorpion navy Issue with 8 mids, it has a huge tank anyways.) Stable means I can drop a couple resist mods to equip target painters. |

The only real use of the safeguards is in fittings that make use of calibration heavy rigs, since her calibration cost is considerable lower. Basically if you want to get T2 missile/weapon rigs on many T1 hulls they are a good option.
For everything else CCCs are better, since they got no stacking penalty and don't increase your sig. |

T2 ROF rig, target painters, tracking computers, tracking enhancers, and omnidirectional tracking links are also damage mods. Hell, I'm probably even forgetting some! Tons of room to squeeze more damage mods on!
