You can try that setup above(AKA Gankageddon TM),it does a ****load of damage at any distance 5-65 km(I think, not sure what crystal,I havent tried one personally)you got absolutely no defense but youre a machinegun.

I have Long Range Targetting Lvl 2, Sharpshooter Lvl 3 and on my Armegeddon optimum for Tachyons is a shade over 80km with Radio, about 62km with Infrared, 31km with Gamma; Megapulses are 45km Microwave and 22km Gamma. I also keep 2 cruiser sized heavy pulses for close range frigate combat (25km with Microwave, 12km with Gamma), a Large Smartbomb (5km range) and of course a full compliment of ogres. Frigates are nigh on impossible to hit with the Tachyons at under 30km, 20-25km with Megapulses, but then thats where the heavy pulses and drones come in, with the smartbomb being for thoses that really get far too close. I won't quote this as a decent PvP setup, but it works well for solo NPC ratting. [ |

your best bet is get on chaos and try out setups, gankageddons are nasty, but they're easy to jam and they die really fast.

First off geddons are Armor tanks, not shield tanks, so if you forfeit all your low slots to targeting and and tracking enhancers you'll have no defensive measures. You'll be a Gankgageddon, as said above, good for killing, bad for surviving. I personally use this: 7Mega small or med SB
3 cap recharger II's
3relays 3 hardeners (depending on what you fight) 2 repairers (named meds or med and large or 2 large, whatever floats your boat)
this setup has been posted on here SO many times by other players on countless other threads, so look around a bit and you'll find somehting like it that will work nicely for you. This is a npc killer, not pvp, slow dam dealer, but can tank well so it can take the time to deal that dam.
To me your life means nothing, you are a nobody only there to be squashed like a bug. |

um...it depends on what range your fighting at.
Long range use either radios, microwaves or infrareds.
Short range use multifreq, gamma, UV or xrays. ----------

Lasers take 1 second to swap out crystals.
So most people use radios for longest range and either gamma or multi freq to boost damage at closer ranges.

Bring at least 3 sets of 7 crystals with you. Have the 7 MF(or gamma) fitted, and keep 7 radio + 7 something in between in your cargo. If you end up with the enemy more than, say 5-7 km, outside your optimal range, switch to other crystals...
You should always have the short range ones fitted unless you know for sure you'll be fighting at long range.

If you're so worried about cruisers, why not fit heavy beams or heavy pulses?
IMO, setting yourself up for long range is a mistake. You jump into a system, you got enemy frigs or cruisers sitting at the gate...what you gonna do? Say "Excuse me while I warp out and warp back in at my optimal"?
You have far more opportunities to engage at close range than far.
You put 4-5 heavy pulses on an arma, you'll probably have more than enough powergrid and cpu to tank it or put a heavy cap injector on it.
I'd put 5 heavy pulses and two heavy nosferatu's on it. Cruisers and frigs would fear you for sure, if thats all your worried about.
