Probably falls into the "nothing new under the sun" post but...
With all the striking visuals, large gamer population, and apparently tons of people willing to write user-created fiction, why isn't ccp working on releasing a "mission editor"?
While hunting your brother can be fun, I long for more true storyline content. The ability to create user-generated missions would spike the amount of this content and keep non-pvp players more engaged in the game.
There could be a review system where a user-generated mission with sufficient positive reviews could somehow reward the editor. I envision looking forward to my favorite editor releasing new storylines in this manner. Also, if done properly, as other mmorpgs have done, it could relieve alot of work for ccp.
On a different note, could you imagine if there were "hacking" sites in Eve that gave real game info, a la Pardus? Perhaps it would access gate information, since most of us pass thru them, to give ship numbers, setups, cargos, etc of a corp you were inquiring about. That type of info is "in" the game. Would be really crazy to be able to access it. A core of "hackers" to support corp pvp activity? Or maybe a corp of "hackers" that could be hired to support you. Just an idea.

hey hey
CCP create the base and the players use their creativity to make it better.
what you can do is create 2 corps and set courier missions to each other with random items etc and have people run the gauntlet so to speak. its not great but if you kept it corp to corp on a small basis you could have some fun. there is also a bounty system that could be used to hunt each other. but its up to you to use what we got and expand.
it would be good to have more player generated missions but you would get spammed with crap and probably totally overload the database. i would support CCP giving players the ability to maybe generate more misions etc but you need to rememeber that they cant spawn items and or NPC's so you need to find some mechanic which would work without having something to exploit.
the bounty system is in complete need of an overhaul and there has been oooodles of suggestions but there is so many exploits/workarounds its very problematic.
if you have mission suggestions then you can always email CCP.

Interesting. I may be oblivious here but why couldn't you build a mission editor that allowed for the generation of npcs and loot? Obviously you would want a limit on the items/npcs that could spawn. ie. Lower priced items/level npcs so that it doesn't spawn farming. It wouldn't be hard to code in correlations on npcs to loot drops so that you don't have missions of a single frigate guarding the loot.

1) you could spawn 100 npc frigates that dropped passive targetters that instpop to large smartbombs.
haul the targetters then repro.
instant tritanium, instant isk, trit market crash.
2) or whats to stop you from having missions that continually spawn 250k bounty rats but only 1 at a time and have the mission permantely spawn ? even if you put a restriction you can simply retake the mission an infinite number of times.
do i need more examples ? effectivly its a huge isk faucet. and if you removed all reward then noone would take the mission.
if you had the creator put the isk on the ships and use their own mods as loot then you could maybe create something but there is still database loads and theres another exploit/EULA violation to consider. dont get me wrong i would love to create an npc convoy and fill it with juicy goods and send it to a destination and back but there needs to be huge restrictions and very limited server/client interation.
its a great idea but when you start to limit it it dilutes the whole concept. on a small scale maybe.

So what you're getting in Apocrypha and future updates are graphical tools that will allow content developers to build fun, immersive and complex stories easily. It will be easy--drag and drop--and although you haven't seen a lot of it yet, it will just amaze you at how easily it's going to be create these fascinating story lines.
The future is... PGC.

It's called... "contracts"
Do not try and find the signature... that's impossible. Instead only try to realize the truth... There is no signature. |

Fascinating Mikal. Good find. Wish we could have some sort of idea when this might happen.

Contracts are to Missions as a pointy stick is to a 720mm Howitzer, Courier type contracts are mostly scams and traps.
