Oi to all eve members,
I was wondering if there is at least one other poor soul that likes spending time next to the computer screen rather than warm and cozy Florida beaches?! Well, I'd like to see our numbers, if any, and than possibly organize a meet... possibly.

Brother, I am there. Its not always sunny in SOFLO, but we do have less eve geeks! I am in the West-Kendall, Miami area if you want to set something up. I would have to come up with some sort of lie for the wife, and tell her its job related.. though. |

Hahaha, I hear you my Eve friend. I am actually in the same ship here. I am surprised you answered this quickly. I hope we get few more cool guys, so we can organize some meet. I agree, it is not always sunny in SOFLO, but it is never cold either. So outdoors is almost always a possibility.
Let's keep an eye on here, for few days, to see if there are few more of us. |

Florida is awesome. On one of my road trips I drove down the east coast, down through all the Keys and through the Everglades and back up the west coast before sadly having to fly back home :). It's no Iceland but I think I could get used to it ;D

Florida is awesome, I have to agree. However, the grass is always greener on the other side, in this case metaphorically as well as literally. I would love to drive around Iceland, but, I know its not going to happen. I miss the mountains, the hills, those huge endless forests. Florida lacks it all. It's flat and swampy and warm (at this moment of my life, it is great, but I know I will get bored of it sooner or later). I love the fact that you can walk down to the Everglades and hang out with alligators, in the wild, no fences, no guards... just you and them.
The weather is an enormous plus - that is why we get so many Northerners coming our way. Half of Canada and North East America own properties all over Florida.
Well, if we get enough people (which I doubt), we can get a nice meet and have you over ;) |

We already have 6 or so of us if I am not mistaken... few more and we could actually do this. Most of us are located in SOFO which makes it even easier. Great, great... soon enough we can brag around here about the greatest ever EVEmeet - with some cool drunk photos - something along these lines

Alright, lets see the count and suggestions for a meeting! It would be probably the most fair thing to get together in the heart of Everglades, of of the I-75 hwy... get some grill going and bring drinks and spend all day grilling, drinking and talking about spaceships... its probably not going to happen but if anyone is from Everglades City and knows a neat spot around for "camping", let us know!

We are trying to decide if Okeechobee area would be good for everyone - it will most likely involve some driving, but moderate driving for most of us, according to the map. We have more then 10 people at this moment, and few more will add up by the time we decide on time and place, so - we should start deciding.

I once tried to set up a meet for the last STS launch. I have tried to set up meets up here in Central FL. All were fail in actually happening.
Maybe you all will have better luck down south. If you move it north-ish i.e. Cape or O town I would definitely make it to a meet. 265 miles south on I-95 is just too far to go for anything in the Miami/Lauderdale area.
It's all just a game 'til someone loses an eye.
Then it's a really cool game. |

Yeah, that is why we are trying to get it in the Central Florida area... lots of people checking in from all over the place, not too many responses with actual times and places suggestions.
I guess it would be the best to get someone from, lets say, Orlando area, and have them chose a place - pub, park, bar, anything. Then we pick a date and go with it. It has to be weekend though, Saturday preferably. Maybe in a month or so?! |

I suggest we start with 2 spots initially, and go fromt here. We can have one in Orlando and another in the WPB area. Just for starters, lets think steps. Once we get one or two going, we might be able to do an annual meet up, but we can start with Quarterlys. |

We can then assign Region leaders, whose sole responsibility to is acquire a head count and keep in touch with the folks who plan on attending. Driving all the way to orlando to make a weekend trip and to find out you are the only one at the pub with a Quafe shirt on, would seriously suck.. and kill this entire movement all together. I am 100% sure i can make the WPB. We need to set up an agenda, of it.. so that there is movement the entire time. Put together all of these ideas and create an annual event that might be something special.. Every year we can change it up, like EvE South Beath, etc.. |

There are actually twelve "Miller's Ale House" in Orlando, all of which also go by "Orlando Ale House" signage wise.
But yes, the one on International Drive (aka. I-Drive) is the one currently being discussed.

Well, the Orlando meetup was a success in that it involved more than 1 person (4 to be precise). Hopefully next time we can plan a little better and little further in advance and get a bigger turnout. |
