My question is: hat are some good ways for a corporation to pay its miners for the minerals they mine? As it is now we are evemailing a corp quota for the week then i keep track of how many of that mineral comes in every day then post an up date to how much more we need. The miners are setting up contracts to the corp with the known amount per unit. I check the contract math then accept it. Is there a better way to do this? or plz post the ways your corp buys minerals from you. thank you all for your input.

How we do it in goonswarm is typically this:
We have someone call a mining op, everyone mines all day and the guy who's supposed be running the op never shows. All ore is collected and contracted to this person, who refines it and hauls the refined minerals into empire. At this point they will get blown up in low sec and no one gets paid.

You forgot that part where you make up a fake kill mail and have your pirate alts fake kill you, pretend to be the pirates and confirm you kill it and run off with all the money ^_^

just to make this more detailed. We are looking for a better way to pay the miners as they turn in there minerals and a way to pay them if we can't be online at the same time. Note this is a smaller corp. Or if there different are ways to pay miners altogether.

sorry to say this is not an easy task, market fluctuations will be a tough one to overcome, Excel spreadsheets help us out for actual value, and the way we do it is we turn in the ore to mins section and wait for the refine an payout at the market values across several regions, so Alts in other regions help out a fair bit too... just so u get a accurate average on what the market is like...

1. Find out how much each miner can mine in a weeks time and give them goals. As skills advance and yields increase, they should know how much they can bring in and update you on contract numbers.
2. Set up WTB contracts for 2 weeks (things go wrong sometimes and if they dont take the contract, surely what they get in one week, they can get in 2). Make available to Corporation only. Give them a solid number, so you can track what should come in. Corporation contracts available will be a high number, so if you have alot of people, you can easily cover them.
3. It's also best to set where you receive the minerals at a station you have highest refine rates at. You can also find out where they mine and set up contracts there, then move with corp assets to the refine center.

Simple and easy way:
Set a percentage at each op that you will get paid for (say 85%) and the other 15% will go to the corp for whatever is needed. After 85% of the ore is taken, refined, and sold at a trade hub, distribute the profits evenly between all who participated. Of course, you should take in account who actually stayed the entire op, but that's for you to decide.
There's also a "point" system, but then you get more complicated...I'd say just taking a "cut" of the profits is good enough.

the last time i was forced to mine by Lilan, was a few years ago (in my astarte), the corp kept everything and built some dreads for our use... and I was p. happy with that
giving isk to members is all well and good, but you'll probably find that if you set corp objectives and show real benefits, people don't mind giving the time
depends how cohesive your corp is, if its a loose collection of nublettes they might cry and demand isk, in which case how about 50% of takings, divided equally between those who helped?

This. Sounds all too familiar. Of course it's even worse when you're being perma-wardecced

For corp mining ops we have the spreadsheet that divides profit per person based on shares, the shares come from a calculation of time spent and points awarded depending on ship type, when the op is over the mineral value is based on average market prices updated on our forums monthly and added to the sheet. The minerals are added to the sheet and the total amount of isk going to each member is then paid out when our client buys them at the pre-agreed price. There is also a facility to add a percentage for the corp. The final sheet is uploaded so all members can download it if they wish On solo ops the members can either contract their ore to the corp or directly to the client with the understanding that they will be paid at the mineral price after refinement.
