this specialised thingy stuff is brain dead anyway. instead of making shield transferers and the like better modules they make a ship that makes the modules useable. another step towards specialisation, you can only really use certain weapont types on most ships already, due to bonusses, and now this.
sucks big time if you ask me

Think of it this way. These 4 ships were the old, crappy ships of the 4 empires ready to be mothballed, but instead they decided to retrofit them with modern technology and give them a modern combat role. This is historically common and no doubt is in EVE.

Would really love to test it, but chaos is down / disconnected from the internet since days, or is it just me?
