Ok so here is the deal, finally got the skills to fly a retriever(waits for ovations to die down) and doing a fair bit of solo mining(not ready yet to use a second acc as a hauler) so i was thinking of doing the following to maximize my mining yield per hour and would like some tips if this will be a feasible tactic or not.(btw training for modulated strip miners is in the queue)
My retriever has 2x expanded cargo hold t2 giving me a total of 3400m3 of cargo and my current lasers give me a 1600m3/per cycle(actually a bit higher but..) so in essence i have to dump the ore(jump in the station) every 6 mins.Would i get more per hour if i use the badger+2xGSC tactic with the retriever? I know it would involve jumping and changing the ship to empty the containers but i could have an extra 7800m3 if i fill the GSC's.
Can someone tell me if this would be feasible or not?
Thx. Mining is not a job it's a lifestyle. |

i think so. but the best thing would be to find a low traffic system and mine into a normal jetcan (27k m3) full then swap to hauler.
remember to anchor and set password on those containers unless you want someone to steal them. and 5k away from any ores/other cans to be able to anchor. _________________ - "Welcome to EVE, remember to insu *BAAOOM*... Told you, newb."

It's feasable and before I got a second account I did precisely this. Personally I'd also ditch one expanded cargohold for a PDS, but that's your call.
One thing you could look at would be to train for and buy a Badger 2. With 3 expanded cargohold-2's a Badger 2 holds about 12500 m3, or 4 GSCs. Then anchor 4 GSCs in a string along a belt somewhere and load 4 more in the badger.
All in all though, I like my current setup (Hulk+alt in 30K m3 Occator) a lot better.

I've run a number of Level II missions building up corp standing, and many of them have a lot of mineable 'roids. Especially in hi-sec you're really safe in this instance, and can jetcan mine with impunity.
The size of the rocks is usually a lot larger than system belts.
You might check the Kill Mission Survival Guides, to see which level II's would assist in your mining efforts
It's a simple matter of doing the mission, forgetting about the time bonus, and mining for hours hassle free.

This is exactly what im doing right now
I'm sitting in a deadspace with 30+ huge veldspar roids in a retriever jet canning away.

problem with that is some L2 deadspaces have the roid fields 50kms from the warp in point. and what if you dont need the isogen from all that omber? -

I'm quite positive that wrecks and roids stay in their place after mission is ended (i'm not sure if there needs to be someone in the mission pocket for the roids to stay, but that's easy to check). So you can BM the roids, finish the mission and then jump straight to the rocks without warpgates and long traveling.

Yes and No, the Missionarea despawn completely(only wrecks and Cans stay behind) after you turned the Mission in. However, it stays open until all Player have warped out of it.
