Why do so many people complain about DT?
It's an hour...sometimes less, if you can't find something else to do for an hour then you really do need to seriously re-evaluate your priorities in your life.
Fresh air,a bath or shower, make love, food, a book or newspaper.....a beer with friends....the options are almost limitless.

im cool and have friends.... i think.... its been a while since i logged into facebook... oh god- i hope thay havent died, i mean, do i need to feed them?

DT is useful for running the hell out of lowsec 
But we must understand that no-lifers hate DT.

The new RAMSAN doesn't decrease boot time it decreases overall downtime as it can perform the cleanup faster

Luckily for me I live in the US, so downtime is no problem for me at all. I mean, who in their right minds is up at 7am!? However, in Europe it's sometimes smack in the middle of lunch and the poor Australians get hit with downtime right in the middle of their prime playing time.
Now, that's because so few of them play that it's the lowest population time historically, but I can see how for them it might suck. :)
