Hi, I'm actually a returning user, played to almost two years and then stopped but now im back.
Now level 2 missions, i'm doing these missions in a rupture and there taking forever, easily talking 45 minutes or more for missions that have pretty pathetic pay and the standings increase is tiny, having to kill upto 30+ frigate rats, with some all at once and others with them spawning over and over again.....
Is this intentional? compared to how missions used to be this seems like a bit of a **** take, for the time im putting into each mission I really want allot more then im getting, and no im not salvaging and looting each god damn wreck.
Im somewhat experienced so I can adapt, id just to know what the purpose of this is? they trying to encourage users to do other activities in eve?

If you played for two years you should get a BS and do L4 you get atleast 40 times better payed in standing and money doing them. L2 is just something you do to get your standing up so you can do L3 and then move on asap to L4.

Mission reward payout is based on how long it has taken others to do the same mission. So if it's taking you 45 minutes and the payout is small, you are almost certainly doing something wrong. Minmatar ships are generally pretty crap for missions, have you cross trained into any other type of cruiser? Here's a short guide I wrote on how mission rewards are calculated if you're interested: Linkage

Would love too, but that charactor is gone... I'll let you guess why.

Well look, a mission i was doing last night started off with 3 groups of two frigates all spaced apart, rats where easy to kill, traveling between each group when there 40k apart takes time and to make it worse each group respawned over and over.. traveling takes time in a cruiser with only an ab! Another, a five parter, of which the last misison included interceptors, it took something like 15-20 minutes to kill each one, tried close range, long range, missiles light and heavy and but they were all doing stupid dmg like 9-14 dmg! Do you know how long it takes to kill rats doing only that amount of dmg? A long bloodly time. Also it sounds like your telling me the game still isnt balanced, nice going ccp, iÆll check out your guide but im not training other races at this point, no race should have an advantage doing missions.

Tell that to the Caldari.

CCP can help recover it if you have lost the password/account details. And even trashed characters sometimes.
About this character, you probably are lacking in the support skills.
A few comments in random order.
1) motion prediction for the guns;
2) webbers;
3) you should be capable to hit at 40K. Stay put and snipe with artillery. Let the targets come to you. If they use MDW the size will increase and while they are moving toward you they will have little transversal.
4) assault light missile launcher for the frigates + motion prediction. Way better that heavy missiles.
5) light drones against the frigates, even semi skilled they help.
6) learn the NPC resists, plenty of guides for that.

Yea, it sounds like he is using A/Cs only...wonder what ammo types??
A Rupture should not take that long to fight L2, using Artillery and Missiles, half the L2 missions can be done in a Rifter
(Yes, I know I`m Caldari, and yes, I put railguns on a Rifter too) ---

So caldari still own all with missiles? I have web and motion prediction, with long range ammo yes but the dmg sucks, tend to use plasma at 10-20km with 3x 720mm artilery and 3x standard launchers with light missiles, seems to work best, I have no trouble tanking damage.

The fact that you are Minmatar doesnt imply you HAVE to fly Minmatar.
When are the players learning this?
Caldari ships ftw!!! (in PVE)

For lvl 2 missions I would be flying a thrasher loaded up on turrets, autocannons to be precise and an AB - blast through those missions to get up to lvl 3 and then (if your focus is PVE) Cylone your way to lvl 4 and a Maelstrom.
Failing that look me up in game and you can salvage my missions for some quick standings gains

Thrasher would get owned, my rupture with hardners and tech 2 med repairer can't even tank some of the lvl2 missions at close range.. im guessing you havent tried them for a while but that wouldnt work.

Keep on with a given faction and unlock L4 missions, and skill for battleships and marauders, and your income will be vast compared to what you're getting for L2s. Generally, if you're doing missions for Race X, then their ships will be the most efficient at killing those missions' contents, so if you're doing Minmatar missions then in the long run you'll tend to do best with Minmatar ships, both offensively and defensively. The Vargur is one of the best mission ships in the game, at the end of your training chain.

The only L2 mission I can think of that would cause any trouble is blockade, just for the number of destroyers that would be hitting you pretty hard. Otherwise tanking L2's is a snooze, I take my Myrm in without any guns.

It really sounds like you have incredibly crappy skills (you can't tank most L2's and you're hardly doing any damage to rat ships - those should be HUGE clues that something's wrong), so you should be training those ASAP. That of incredibly crappy gear, or both. The game hasn't changed THAT much since you left. Having a Ruppy for L2's doesn't make them automatic - you still need good skills - but it's definitely the best Min ship for running L2's. It's not that the game isn't balanced, it's that you need to actually have skills to do certain things. You won't simply be handed ISK on a platter just because you pay the monthly fee...
If you're frustrated running L2's, I'd suggest grabbing a Rifter and going back to L1's while you train some of those skills so you're less frustrated.

I think your expectations may be high. I happen to be running L2's in a Ruppie myself, as a noob with decent cruiser-class skills. I found the rewards, with salvage, of Lvl 2 combat missions was a good step up from Lvl 1's, time factor included. Are you sure your fit is most-effective for fast kills? Mine may not be optimal but 4x650 Cannon plus two Assault Launchers (with skills to reach past 30 km) make short work of most Lvl 2 ships at 30-something km without taking even one hit in many cases (unless a gate drops me inside 10 km).
I LIKE having lots of waves. That's much more efficient for salvaging rewards than "go kill one spy."

Nothing wrong with the rupture, or flying minmatar for that matter.
simple arty rupture will do just fine in missions, I don't recommend moving over to ACs for missions until the Vargur - ACs need a falloff bonus to be effective for PVE, and only one ship supplies that. _______________ <Q> QUANT Hegemony QUANT is rebuilding, EVE-Mail me for recruitment info.
