Hey guys.
I'm a new player to eve online. And i'm having trouble starting wich is a shame cause this game looks likes something right up my alley.
I'm a gallente player and i have finished the tutorial missions. Now i do know what i want, i want to do combat missions alot and later on maybe evolve to some pvp.
I have trained the skill to fly the tristan, but i have no idea how to fit it to be somewhat succesfull. Can somebody give me somewhat of a guide to start out, i mean what should i do next, i totally have no idea where to go atm.
i thank you in advance!

Coming from another new player like myself, I know just what you mean. But the good news is, IÆm over a month in, and IÆm feeling much more comfortable with the game now.
First of all, the fastest way to grasp this game is to do missions (the tutorials and some Level 1 missions). Not only are the missions good, but the time in game that you can read playersÆ conversations in various channels is good as well. Secondly, you may have to do a lot of reading as well. A lot of my research has come from going to google and typing "eve online" and then a keyword like "salvaging" or "powergrid"
I would check out battleclinic.com, select the Eve Online tab and then hit the New Player Central link. ThereÆs a downloadable guide there. ItÆs not easily understandable in the first read through. In fact, IÆve probably come to understand about 20% of it right now. But the more exposure to the game, will come with it increased comprehension of the guide. Also finding Level 1 agents in your region will help you get some decent experience and ISK, which you can find by googling ôeve onlineö and ôagent finderö (itÆs got dropdown options, very slick).
All in all, IÆd say that my comfort level of the game came about 14-15 days into playing. I was starting the Sisters of Eve mission arc. I lost some ships because they were under-utilized, so IÆd recommend trying to get a good grasp on fitting ships (understanding CPU, Powergrid, Capacity, High Slots, Med Slots, Low Slots, etc.). Also, donÆt be afraid to run from battle every now and then. And when going into a nest of rats, try to go in at angles (using the far of stations, planets, belts, etc.) to ôalignö which also makes it convenient for warping out if need be.
The game starts to make sense after awhile. DonÆt be timid to post questions here or in game. IÆve learned a lot from other playersÆ questions and the veteran playersÆ replies.

Federation Navy is a good NPC corp for combat missions. Oursulaert has a L1 agent. http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=MissionReports is a site for mission info that you can access using the ingame browser. I dare you to Fight My Brute ! |

Specifically with regards to figuring out how to fit a Tristan (or any ship), one way to do it is to download EveMon (google it) and start a plan (Plans > New). Click on the Ship Browser tab and expand Frigates until you find the Tristan. Then click on the little link called Battleclinic loadouts. This will display a bunch of loadouts created by players and rated by other players. If you sort by 'Rating' you'll get an idea of some of the more popular loadouts. Click "View Loadout" and you'll see the individual mods. If you then click "Discuss this loadout" you'll be taken to the Battleclinic page where there may or may not be some helpful commentary.
The naming of the loadouts can be helpful but sometimes cryptic. Just click around until you find something interesting and fits your needs.
Once you find a loadout that interests you, click 'Add to Plan' and skills that are required to uses this particular loadout will be added to the 'Plan Queue' tab. EveMon will also give you 'suggestions' as to which additional learning skills you should add to the queue to shorten the training time.
I hope this helps.

you need EFT along with EveMon, use EFT (eve fitting tool) to figure out what ships and fittings you want, and then evemon to develop a plan to train the skills needed for them, here's the link to EFT http://depositfiles.com/en/files/npb4b2bez, enjoy.

Of course, but they were incredibly helpful to me at first. Really helped educate me in some of the more popular and useful loadouts people were running. Not the end all, be all, of course, but worth looking at.

If EFT is a bit cumbersome or hard to figure out (like it is for me), I just use EVEMON for fitting advice. Pick a ship from the "ship browser", then click on BATTLECLINIC LAYOUTS, and it gives numerous samples to choose from (or to mix/match).
