So I'm doing my usual circuit of the Heimatar area, looking for miners to grief. I had some fun in Frarn, made some kills in Onga, and figured I'd check out Magiko... The lack of stations often creates a necessity for jetcanning that I like to take advantage of. Scan out the belts, and see a juicy potential target; a jetting retriever.
I warp in and promptly flip the bulk of his can, leaving a piece in there to keep it intact. Then I wait. This retriever continues to mine. It even continues to fill the can that I left intact. Naturally, I continue moving the ore into my own can. This continues for a while, during which he does not respond to any sort of communication attempt.
Meanwhile, an industrial is moving back and forth between the belt and the Teon gate. It will warp in, approach his can, take all but one piece of ore, and warp back out. Since there only WAS one piece in there, it would just warp in and then immediately out, over and over.
The retriever just moved throughout the belt, mining away, and jetting all of its ore for me to siphon into my own cans. Eventually I left to go get my own industrial, and starting hauling everything away as he mined it. Got over a full can before server shutdown.
So is this a new trend, or is it fairly common occurence? Jetcanning macro teams, feeding cans of ore to anyone lucky enough to stumble upon their hilarious little operation...

Seems like your goal is clear.. Gank the industrial then get your own one to move around taking from all of the cans..
Now if only there was a way to write a script to do that for you....

If only...
Interesting new development though, another flipper, while trying to get aggro on the hauler, managed to interuppt the macro's cycle. He would steal the cans, trying to get them at the same time as it, but in doing so forced the miner to keep jetting new cans.
Thanks to the delicious feature that prevents cans from being jetted too often, the macro is now at a point where its hold is full of ore that it couldnt jet in time before the lasers shut themselves down...
Now it just sits there, silent, alone, as its hauler does its little warp-dance in the background. A truly touching sight to behold...

you could also just jet your own can, name it the same way as the macro'er named his. drag everything from the macro'ers can to your can... and just wait for the indystrial to warp back in and empty your can... ... profit!

It would have to be a pretty fail macro to fall for that. I'm sure they are fleeted up, so it would skip any can that didn't belong to the fleet. Other wise they would end up flipping someone eles's can and getting popped pretty often.
As for the OP, I guess that's a easy way to make some isk if you can stand sitting there and making those runs.

I did this a few times in amarr about 2 years ago, before I discovered low-sec and all that. Nice income for a new player but ****-poor for anyone else.

Or ... just maybe ... create a script that causes the computer to do everything that I would've done in EvE - that way I can pay $14.95 per month to watch my computer play with itself .... - |
