A suggestion I would make is about the Market.
It would be nice to have a maximum sell or buy order...similar to Ebay.
I:E...you make a buy order for 500 isk..but there would be an option for a maximum buy order of lets say 1000 isk, or whatever you want it to be.
The same could be done for sell orders...you state your sell price...but it automatically lowers to what you want the minimum to be..
This would solve the issue of traders staying in station for hours, resetting prices, and is a simple fix.

I would rebuild warfares from the ground up again to impliment newer concepts and further tactical depths beyond whats currently available over the current deterrence, logistics, and the traditional pew pew.
This would include redoing electronic warfare from enitrely from scrap.
Such as signal stealthing and awareness, a slight nerf to enmassed fleet warfares (with so many signal noises a targeting computer may have a hard time getting the one desired) as well as stealthing technologies to further signal supression. Also an interlaced automated military network intelligence thats able to be built up or hacked into to allow for sneak attacks and the sort. Defense networks beyond stations and starbases such as an automated drone factory at asteriod belts that mines and manufactures drones to defend the system.
Tagging ships for intel gathering such as logistics tagging to see where jump freighters are refueled at.
Doubling the number of available warfare links to add variety, add tech 2 links that suppliment and boosts the tech 1's effects.
Decentralize Captiols ships by introducing super battleship class ships such as the escort carrier and seige liners and the third tech 2 battleship class flagships all able to add thier great benifits in smaller packages in picular places such as empire or wormhole space (you cant shove a titian though a wormhole but a flagship with not as powerful bonuses)
Give all ships an ammo bay, make it that only docking, maintenance arrays on ships and possibly a new tier of logistics ships able to rearm and reload them such as a munition ship.
Greatly increase the number of objectives warfare contains that would be wise to deal with and involvable with smaller and not as significant force to deal with that objective. Anything more would be a 'waste' of time and resources.
Grandfathering older ship bonuses and layout would be the most interesting idea possible but may not be feasable, a legacy dominix would be nice to see around fielding 20 or so drones.
Revising older technologies to adopt lessons learned with newer technologies. Such as tech 3 sub systems being bled to tech 2 ands tech 1s simple changing out of systems such as the default electronics with an enhanced ishkone electronics system for enhanced locking ranges or swapping out the navigation with thukker drives for increased speed these swappables on tech 1 and tech 2s only change stats and give no bonuses.
Revising rigs for multiple sized ships and effects.
streamlining UI, Eve lately keeps adding more windows they need to go back and start 'compiling' them into compact forms some examples would be certificates and skills being combined into one entire system. Importing PIP technologies for scanners so you can tweak probes on the mini map as you flying in space still. Reworking journal section entirely to be more comphrensive and fleshed out. Blending market, wallet, and contracts for example can be another massive improvement. Attach notepad anywhere it could be thoughtful. Quicklink calculator buttons in 'finances' window.
Finally redo ship deaths, I would love to see ships evaporate in thier expolsions, multiple fire spots and random nondescript chunks fall off and maybe spin out of control or just simply fall apart into thier wrecks(this would require a unique model per ship though)
Finally Allaince, Corp, or Personal ship striping, ships would get stripes stylized to that ship to id thier belonging/loyalty. Of course fully disablable for viewing others or entirely.
Also giving eve players far more tools for thier own content such as better cinemgraphy, thier own mp3 player, deployable decorations in thier own personal deadspace.
This would be my addable wants within the next two years to be tossed in with current development plans of planetary interaction and walking everywhere (including planets)

I didn't add these originally, because I didn't want my first post to be too long.
4) Fitting Slot Modifiers.
This goes along the way of allowing users to better customize existing ships. In short it would be a mod that is plugged into a slot that changes that slot to a different type.
1 High slot could be converted into a mid slot 1 Mid slot could be converted into 1 low slot 1 Mid & 1 Low could be converted into a High slot (Optional 2 mids or 2 lows could be converted into 1 High)
Restrictions would have to be that you couldn't add more than a total of 8 slots for any group. Meaning you couldn't take a Coercer and add a 9th turret. Yet you could do away with 2 turrets and add 2 mids making it a lot more useful in many situations.
The idea is to allow more user customization to each ship, but would likely still keep ships fairly balanced because for anything you gain you give something up. Of course in some cases certain set ups might cause unbalanced ships.
5) Drone Expansion Bay.
Just like we have cargo expanders, why not add the ability to include a drone bay in a low slot. The mod would take away cargo space and add in room for a 5m3 or 10m3 bay (limited by size of cargo bay). Users would still be limited to 5 drones used at a time unless they used a Drone Control Units to expand that limit.
This could allow users to add drones to ships that have no drones or limited drone space. Could make some interesting sleeper drone boats. Can anyone say: "Attack of the Sigil!"

I would add in more font options, so people with really big screen resolutions don't need a magnifying glass to read the screen text.
I'd introduce salvager drones.
I'd make it so that wrecks belong to the player/corp for a set duration of time, to give highsec players some protection from ninja salvagers. If a ninja salvager tries to salvage a wreck during that timespan they win aggro from the player/corp (Aggression Timer). After the set duration has expired, the wreck is marked abandoned (similar to drones left in space) and so are up for grabs to anyone. Treatment of loot inside the wreck wouldn't change.
I would continue to make space look more interesting. There are too many repeated backgrounds (different colors don't count). It makes sense for a region to have some consistency, but different systems in that region should still be distinctive from one another. Likewise, there should be more areas of empty space. Color is great, but realistically speaking, space is pretty black and doesn't often have nebulae formations that look similar to intestines or long chains of brightly-colored excrement. Does no one ever look at photos from Hubble for inspiration?
I would redo the planet and moons. There's really no excuse for the uninteresting and repetitive marbles we see floating around out there.
I would improve the in-game browser. Sony integrates Internet Explorer into EQII so players can access wikis, check email, do whatever they might need to do in-game without having to play windowed or worry about script and HTML restrictions breaking website code. I wouldn't choose IE for EVE (or anything else), of course...

Create a string of low sec systems between all four empires with shifting system security tied to performance of faction warfare.
Example: Let's say the Caldari stomp the pants off of their opposition for one 'period' of faction war. The systems between the Caldari and Amarr would rise in security status and a high-sec path would open between the two. Their enemies, in punishment for their failing at blobbing with t1 cruisers, would see border systems drop security standings and trade routes become infested with opportunistic pirates.
This would:- Decentralize and split the markets
- Spread and isolate the high-sec population around more
- Give a 'non-ISK reward' (read as: meaning) to faction warfare
- Make smuggling an actual profession
- Shift trading's 'excitement' away from the spreadsheet part
- Encourage cooperation between of high sec, PvP focused players with traders (escort duty)
- Give a real reason/profit for tragets/traffic to go through low-sec
I'm not a pirate and I'm not involved with faction warfare in anyway, but I think Empire needs a bit more chaos. When you dig in the sandbox of Eve, sometimes you find candy, other times a used syringe.
0.0/POS sovereignty mechanics also need work, but I understand the magnitude of development and change on this. If it's a necessary evil I can (obviously) continue to enjoy the game, even if I do so by avoiding anything to do with the mechanic.
Send some love to us Empire types. Not all of us are veldspar sucking carebears.

Speaking of chaos, I would also make unannounced live events where, say, a group of Sleepers suddenly swarm out of a wormhole into Empire space or wherever (random) and start attacking. It would force players in local space to temporarily co-operate to fend off the Sleepers, and otherwise, if players chickened out and vacated, the Sleepers would temporarily win the system. If in highsec, after a while CONCORD or whatever Empire could mount a "counter-offensive" to drive out the NPCs, but only after players have had a decent chance to try going on the offensive (or not) first.
If not Sleepers, NPC pirate organizations could do just as well for this. It'd would still be PvE but with something of a PvP (surprise, unplanned) element.

Edited by: Zeerover on 16/04/2009 04:32:14 Massively increase the amount of low-sec and NPC null-sec systems. So that on a flattened star-map you would see empire encircled by secondary faction low-sec regions, encircled by NPC null-sec regions, encircled by regular null-sec regions.
This would be done by adding low-sec only regions with Ammatar, Khanid, ORE, SOE, Thukker and Mordu's legion sovereignty - and/or make 1 Caldari megacorp (Ishokune?) a faction.
Outside of these new low-sec regions there should be a belt of NPC null-sec with Pirate Factions and ORE, Thukker and Mordu's legion holding sovereignty. There should be many connections between the low-sec regions and NPC null-sec regions, so few choke points could be established, making it easier for people to venture out there.
As it stands now low-sec regions and NPC null-sec is greatly underrepresented, which leaves little to venture out into for Empire dwellers. 4 jumps of low-sec and you're smack in a major player faction's null-space.
I'd further fix low-sec by making it more lucrative:
1) the above mentioned factions (that reside in low-sec and NPC null-sec) would have much sought after LP stores - for instance being the only source of faction rigs.
2) Nocxium, Isogen & Mexallon would be used a lot more in manufacturing, bringing back low-sec mining (the reason most comes from mission and drone loot is that few mine the low-sec belts).
3) Make more versatile ships. Transport ships that have the cargo of a low-end industrial, the firepower of a cruiser, the tank of a battlecruiser and the agility/signature/mass/speed/lock time of a battleship is a start. I.e. less specialized ships for people venturing out into these regions for long periods. The skill requirement shouldn't be very high, so that new players could use these ships before they graduate to the specialized vessels.
Oh and make faction industrial ships:)

By the way, I would argue that the reason nobody mines in losec is because they dramatically increased the amount of high-end minerals that can be gotten from reprocessing loot, loot obtained in hisec mission running.
You could drastically increase the nox needed in manufacturing, or you could decrease the loot drops, or the amount of high-end minerals gotten from that loot. OR, you could drastically increase the size and density of losec minerals, if you were wanting to increase the lure for miners to come to losec again.

CSM candidate Shagz (the guided hand guy) has some good proposals - concord logistical issues: randomly a high sec system would temporarily turn into a low sec system
and a formal ransom system. Boost to boosters (making boosters from corpses nomnomnom) Really any unique boost to low sec lifestyles. Its already difficult enough with getting access to mods but affording them is a diff story entirely.
edit: oh yes, someone above said it ( i think? ) fleet bonuses for tactical fleet formations. Right now fleet fights are hideous nasty blobs of squares. Would be cool to either: get bonuses from making phalanxes n what not. Or a mechanic/UI device that helps organize a fleet into more comprehensible patterns.
Further, a more customizable UI would be cool, allow for some real individual creativity. Make little tools that are applicable to different roles like: - If you're in an RR fleet have a little box (like the watch list, but improved) - If you're cloaked, maybe an indicator that shows the closest object that can decloak you - Insert other cool, unique, non-performance enhancing but easier to interpret/adaptable tools. |

i'd - revise the BH department - put a square root over range into the tracking formula (the part with the tracking) - reduce signatures of minmatar and the malus on shield extenders - until each ship can properly utilize an active tank or a mix - until they're actually smaller with extenders than amarr - until they manage to stay below skilled missiles without any extenders. - switch arties to "pure" falloff weapons and boost the numeric damage to compensate. even EFT warriors will rejoice - remove combat drones and replace them with all sizes of sentry drones. drone tracking ruins the game. - slightly nerf large smartbombs or rather bring them closer together to a level somewhere around today's medium smarties - nerf doomsdays: 1-2 minutes for one to actually go off. maybe yet another insane skill to reduce that time. - that sort of stuff -.- - putting the gist back into logistics |

- I would modify existing missions so they at least have 2 different ways they can start off/ behave.
Like I was doing one yesterday and according to the mission description, I would land 4.9 KM away from the next warpgate in the middle of 3 drone groups. Instead I landed 75 KM away from the gate right in the middle (5.5 KM away) of 6x Cruisers/Battlecruisers and 2 sentry towers (~15 km away). Since the 3x Battleships (Elite Drone Parasite) where still 100 KM away after I cleaned up the mesh I landed in, I warped out and back in to find myself this time indeed only 4.9 KM away from the gate to the next pocket. So I aggro the remaining BS's get my drones out and let my attention slip away since its almost done this pocket. Then suddenly I see 3 of my 5 drones going into armor. I'm like WTFBBQ! Mission description says no drone aggro yet they have.
I loved it! Suddenly something that was chewed out to the bone becomes unpredictable.
Like 'The assault'. Blowing up the the Starbase Control Tower will prevent reinforcement group from appearing, right? WRONG! I blew it up yesterday, cleaned up the rats, get a bit bored, see that the mission suddenly is completed and think I'll just shoot one more rat, the juicy one, and look away from my screen. When I get back I'm in deep sh*t because the trigger I was shooting that shouldn't trigger the reinforcement group, DID trigger the reinforcement group.
- I would make more COSMOS missions. I loved doing the Amarr ones. They where so refreshing, linked to each other storyline wise, they sorta made sense. I felt like a sad panda, having finished them.
- I would somehow give the Empire pirates a bit more chance to gank haulers or AFK-ers. Empire is now too safe imho.
- I would certainly implement a feature that enables you to 'redeem' ones self to a faction you P-ed off so bad, there's nearly no way to get your standings back up with them. Maybe something like COSMOS missions, linked together story wise. Really, horrible missions, with bad pay but an increased standing raise, given out by an really really grumpy agent.
- I would upon login, not have the login bar display over the scarce advertisement being placed there so now and then. Makes things kinda hard to read. If at all it loads before I hit the enter button...
- I would make ALL in game windows minimal resizable to the current minimum the standard cargo bay window can be resized to. Just imagine how that would clean up the interface having multiple windows (market for example) open.
- Add a r-click command to chat/local windows with a 'group this window with other open chat windows'.
- If possible have a 'hurry up' button next to the 'cancel' button upon undocking.
- Give players more control over in game sound.

If I owned and Developed Eve I'd add more role playing content. Something I was thinking of would be a staff of Live "agents".
At random times you would interact with a real person rather than just the npc AI.
Imagine that when you went to your agent for a mission suddenly a chat window pops up, and you have a real conversation with the agent, the agent (live staff member, using some magic Dev tool) knows what your skills are, what kinds of ship you fly, what you have named them, what your combat record is, and assigns you a mission based on hard information about you.
For Example: Agent: "Greetings Garytheubernewb, I see that you have a large number of skills in scanning and that you currently own a covert ops ship... the... Flying Brick I believe you have named it. I know that this ship is located 13 jumps away from here, however. We are looking for someone to find a lost Freighter in the local system. I know your currently in your Dominix Battleship the Ugly Spud, but if you were willing to get your Probe launcher fitted ship and help us find the lost Freighter we would be willing to pay you well."
Garytheubernewb: How do you know so much about me?
Agent: We have been watching you and your fellow members of Binkies Outer Rim Butt Kickers (*) very closely over the last few weeks, we have noticed that you've lost several ships fighting a war with the members of...."
and so on.
The "live agents" could have a series of preset missions that they could modify quickly to customize it for the player.
Players could even fill in a form with details for further Role playing content. For example you could list family members, and birthdates for them. Imagine getting an Evemail from your (in game npc) mother, reminding you that your sisters birthday is coming up and that she is looking forward to seeing you at your home planet. This could become a mission for you, return to your starting station with a "gift" for your (in game npc) sister.
Or you could link with an other player as family or friends. Evemails could be sent for significant events in the other characters lives.
Evemail: Dear Larrytheubernewb, I regret to inform you that your brother Garytheubernewb's Dominix the Ugly Spud, was recently destroyed in a battle in Low Sec space. His clone was activated sucessfully 23min later.
Not only would this make Eve more interesting and interactive, it would create Jobs for roleplayers around the world.
Thanks for reading.
(*)I appologize if there is a corp named Binkies Outer Rim Butt Kickers, or characters named Larry and Gary Ubernewb
All characters appearing in this work are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons or pod pilots, living, dead, or undead, is purely coincidental.

1) "Homeworld" style ship controls
In addition to the current control scheme I would love to have a Homeworld style ship control. I envision using the system map very similarly to Homeworld as well.
2) Ease of Fleet Formations
In game currently the Fleet Commander can warp their fleet to where ever they want, why not let them set up a formation too. This would work very well for station sieges and gate camps. When the FC wants a ship in a certain spot a pop up would...well pop up and tell the player "The FC wants you in XXX position, accept or decline box, ect.
3) An Actual Fleet Command
Ok, here's the big one. In conjunction with my first and second points, allow the FC to actually command the fleet like an RTS (ala Homeworld style or similar). Command ships would be necessary to use command links that would allow control of the fleet, commanding wing 1 to attack XXX target, wing 2 YYY target, ect. The player would NEVER lose control of his ship, he would command it just as normal but would have direct in game input from the FC. Maybe even have the Wing or ship auto target XXX when the FC gives the in game command.
The fun of this too would be to try and take out (or find as the case may be) the Enemy FC and remove him from the battlefield. Destroying the FC would turn fleet warfare into a jumbled mess, you would have to have competent pilots that could quickly reorganize to win the fight.

Ability to hire, advance and generally make use of NPCs. Tied into standings or not. Think of them as long lasting named drones with capabilities beyond current drones and fighters.
Combined with 'pet' management and buffing skills, charisma based. Yup, an Achura asking for charisma-based skills to increase combat effectiveness. Will wonders never cease...
Think of it as guild wars meets diablo II. If you can't find a useful team to do content you can always try it with NPCs. They may not be as smart or effective as double digit IQ humans, but they're better than nothing. And if you want to risk their gear all by yourself -- well, go nuts.

I'd get the damn UI fixed and some good guidelines for further development in place so there's not a new UI paradigm every time a feature is added. Also, people who add stuff like a tiny little green spot that you can click on to overload a module with no indication whatsoever that you actually hit it before the next cycle begins, would get a job designing asteroid shapes (only) instead.
Next I'd add a lot more stuff per system (many more belts, random objects in space, stuff to do at moons), so there's not only about 10-100 grids depending on the number of moons and POSes where things could happen.
Then a lot of $$$ would go into dynamic load balancing of nodes, i.e. moving a solar system completely from one server hardware to another without noticeable service interruption.
Then I'd make it possible under some circumstances to destroy outposts. That's all for now.
How to PVP: 1. buy ISK with GTCs, 2. fit cloak, learn aggro mechanics, 3. buy second account for metagaming

Several things:
1) Planetary interaction, with related skills/equipment and its interaction with the sov system. Long overdue. Hopefully WiS will be the first step to it.
2) Scrap the current POS-based sov system, and make something tied more strictly on chars actually living in 0.0 instead of having them in empire while their POS keep sov, and they can just jump clone to an attacked POS.
3) Give some meaning to occupied systems in FW.
4) Try to give some reason to mine in lowsec. Having mining veldspar better than any other mineral in lowsec speaks of bad design somewhere.

As for everything else, i think that i could not possibly have done it anywhere better than CCP. Sure, the client has it's problems, and the content could be closer to what everyone wants, whatever it might be, but the progresion is simply astounding, CCP has done as is doing a great job in all aspects, it's the kind of company that sets the marker up, an example of great success.
This thread and many others in the forums are proof of it, the continuos increment in the player base is another, and the list could go on almost forever.
