Hi there
Not sure if this belongs to market section or general but anyway...
I am wondering what would be the possible ways to avoid customs from jumping on you while you are loaded with "illegal substances"? I was thinking that a cloaked cov op warping to 0 would be safe enough n 0.5+?

Isn't there a skill that can be trained for that?

No. Some Gallente used to be able to claim that skill during character creation, but they quickly removed it and it's effect on anything.

Skill at forging cargo manifests and disguising contraband cargo. From a base of 90%, each level of skill reduces chance of contraband detection by 10%.
Who else out there has it trained to level 5?

isn't the secondary effect of the snake implant set a bonus to smuggle detection reduction?
I read the forums assuming there are no trolls, only really stupid people.

I don't believe there's anyway to avoid it, though I'm not sure about really illegal stuff, just dogtags (which seem to be illegal but with no penalties at all). I've been spammed emails from the Amarr while hauling stuff through their space in my Prowler, including Amarr dogtags. Cloaking didn't seem to matter at all. Kind of stupid that way.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

I've done a fair bit of smuggling boosters. WTZ and immediate recloaking on the other side have kept me safe.
One of my old corpies claimed he got nailed 3 gates in a row but I'm not sure how safe he was being.
If you're looking for total protection you can just kill all the customs ships on your route. They're pretty tough but it can be done. I think we were moving something like 20B worth of boosters to Jita last time we went that far though.

Wait what? You can just kill of custom ships without getting concord on your ass? In high-sec too? If so, awesome!

Yeah, I'm interested in that as well. 0.o
And how much of this is true:
Do they really kill your ship?

I've seen it happen. He was carrying some CONCORD tags in a Megathron, I believe (which do have penalties). I guess he said no.
It was quite a long time ago, though, and the procedure might be different now.

To contribute to contraband discussion in general:
There are also some items which are 'illegal' (for example 'Amarr Navy General Insignia I') yet there is no actual penalty for possession. In case of entering Amarr hisec with the item I gave as an example (or any other item from the 'legality' list that has no apparent penalty), the result is a mail called 'Contraband Confiscation' from the Amarr Empire similar to this:
<sov, system name & sec status> Found Contraband:
Amarr Navy General Insignia I, Qty: 1 Standing Penalty: 0.0 Fine: 0 ISK.

Its great to camp border regions because people are lazy and dump illegal items at the gate, so you come along and scoop it up then dock to profit :)
