An abridged sample of local in Hek last night after I popped a miner in a Badger:
EVE System > Channel changed to Hek Local Channel Jetcan Miner > any one pls help wit pirate Jetcan Miner > asteroid belt 1 pls help Peanut Gallery 1 > HALP THEY GANKIN ME Peanut Gallery 2 > Lol Jetcan Miner > pls any help wit gank pirate belt 1 Carebear > did you attack him? Jetcan Miner > kill me and i lost all Carebear > sadly thats the only way some people know.. hard work escapes them.. you cannot leave cans unattended.. and if they steal from you. dont fight back Carebear > retrievers are cheap tho Carebear > dont undock until your timers have expire.d. tehres some cash to replace your losses Jetcan Miner > yea Carebear > 10m should cover some replacements.. and DONT fall for hte bait and attack them Jetcan Miner > pirate tell me 5 mil or i die lol rate die like plau demnts like him:) Jetcan Miner > pay Carebear > yeh Carebear > they arent worth it :P Carebear > who was it agian? Me > This is completely unrelated to the current discussion, but there's a bunch of free ore in 1 - 1.
It went on for a while longer with the Carebear and a couple others mothering the Jetcan Miner, but that was less funny. I also received lots of lovely threats and KOS declarations from the Carebear and his corp/alliance. Stuff like this is so much more rewarding than the Stripminers and other deliciously expensive fits miners are made of, like whiny inattentive pinatas.
My favourite part, though is the "hard work escapes them" bit. It doesn't escape me at all; I'm very well aware of what hard work is, and that's why I avoid it at all costs. ;)

Does anyone actually take the ore from can flipping? I pretty much can flip only when I am killing time waiting for targets etc, and I usually just tell em when I'm leaving system if they don't whine. It's not me being nice, it's that I really don't want to haul veldspar.

I rarely ever take the ore. IF my trader alt is nearby, and IF she is in a bestower, and IF there is more than 15000m3 ore and IF I can be bothered loading up a 2nd client on the 2nd monitor where I watch youtube vids and browse the forum, THEN I'll go grab the ore and haul it.
Most times I just flip it and leave it. Sometimes they come back with a hauler and actually try for a loot'n'scoot.
Other times they come back in a combat ship to punish me, at which point I just pop the jetcan and get ready for some fun. -------------------------------------------------- "Every complex problem has a solution which is easy, neat and wrong!" |

the thing i really don't understand about dear canflippers is:
well you have to "steal" the ore from the original can to be able to transfer it into your can to perform the decieving..
and that means you lose sec.status via stealing right?
and in time you'll suffer from that if you don't cover it with some pve mission running..
so is it just a juggle before being a blinky pirate? or you're already blinkin red and penetrating into high-sec zones just to pop the poor newbies and teaching the life from the hard-way.. then that makes it a waste of time dealing with concord on jump gates and coming all the way to highsec..
so what's the catch?
guess the sec. stat. decrease is a minor change that you can cover.. guess this is the answer..

This is why I consider can flipping to be a public service; people need to be prompted into learning the game mechanics, and I'm only too happy to spend my valuable time helping them. :D
Got another one just now. I sadly didn't have any witty remarks this time, and the kills are both lolfits, but the dialogue amuses me...
After spending some time in low-sec trying to get my sec status up and accidentally killing a couple people while I'm there (I swear, my guns just targeted and fired all on their own! Fortunately the Black Rabbits were there to provide gentle encouragement to pay more attention to what I'm doing) I went back into Caldari high-sec for some can-flipping, my trusty Rifter of Doom. About five minutes in, I find an Osprey and a Badger, both from the same corp, mining away with a can nearby. I flip the can, it had a whole one veldspar, and then orbit the Osprey and target both ships. A moment later, I get a convo from the Badger pilot and things go something like this:
[20:50:24] Malcolm McGregor > Yes? [20:50:37] rootls > whas u langue ? [20:50:41] Malcolm McGregor > English. [20:50:54] rootls > Ok, u has stole an erz from us [20:50:59] Malcolm McGregor > Yes, I have. [20:51:02] rootls > it¦s not ok [20:51:08] rootls > give here [20:51:16] rootls > to me or tell ISK
<I jettison the one veldspar next to the Badger.>
[20:51:44] Malcolm McGregor > It's in the can there. [20:51:55] rootls > nonono [20:52:07] Malcolm McGregor > Hmm? [20:52:20] rootls > when i in you¦re cargo to me, can u fight me. Tell 1 mio isk [20:52:50] Malcolm McGregor > I'm sorry, I don't understand. [20:53:15] rootls > Sell me 1 mio isk, for no fight [20:53:30] Malcolm McGregor > You have got to be kidding me. [20:53:45] rootls > no u has anna me [20:53:50] rootls > now me to [20:53:53] Malcolm McGregor > I'm not paying you anything. [20:54:05] rootls > it¦s war
<Badger warps away to a station. The Osprey keeps on mining.>
[20:54:33] Malcolm McGregor > I'm right here. [20:55:53] Malcolm McGregor > Threats generally work better if you follow up on them. [20:55:54] rootls > sell 1 mio isk or i kill u [20:56:02] Malcolm McGregor > No. [20:56:07] rootls > yes [20:56:15] Malcolm McGregor > It's not going to happen.
<A Caracal warps in and fires on me. A moment later, I'm in armour and repping cheerfully and he's in hull.>
[20:58:03] Malcolm McGregor > How about five million and I don't kill you? [20:58:28] Malcolm McGregor > Twenty seconds. [20:58:51] Malcolm McGregor > Goodbye. [20:59:19] Malcolm McGregor > Thanks for the loot.
<The pod warps off.>
[20:59:55] rootls > no, i come whre back [21:00:00] Malcolm McGregor > Oh, yeah? [21:00:45] rootls > yeah [21:00:52] rootls > 20 mio ISk and i les him [21:01:06] Malcolm McGregor > Are you serious? I just blew you up and now you want 20mil? [21:01:47] rootls > 90 million sell u me [21:01:50] rootls > nd i let u goa [21:02:03] Malcolm McGregor > ... [21:02:09] Malcolm McGregor > That's really quite funny. [21:02:25] rootls > o0 [21:03:19] Malcolm McGregor > Do I understand you correctly? You want me to send you 90 million isk to stop you from killing me? [21:03:41] rootls > u sell me 90 mio isk [21:03:53] Malcolm McGregor > Why? [21:04:40] rootls > come sell me 90 mio isk [21:04:46] rootls > and i forgive [21:05:07] Malcolm McGregor > No. I will not do that, as I see no reason why I should. You do not scare me in the slightest. [21:05:28] rootls > noob giv and sell [21:06:24] Malcolm McGregor > What?
<A Moa warps in. Repeat earlier combat, but this time I don't even get to 50% armour and I haven't bothered to activate my repper.>
[21:10:22] Malcolm McGregor > Wil you pay to keep this ship? [21:10:48] Malcolm McGregor > Answer fast. [21:10:55] Malcolm McGregor > Guess not.

Sadly, by the time I logged I had not received the promised bounty on my head (I was really looking forwards to it), so I may have to follow up with the corp and see if I can have what is surely a small oversight corrected.
