Okay, Downloaded the new patch and there is a new search bar and a blue cargohold space indicator bar-thingy. The search bar is good sense and it more or less follows the window color scheme. I have no complaints about it. The blue bar however does not seem alterable in color or transparency. My idea for improving the interface is returning the blue bar to nonexistence. Thoughts on this?

Edited by: Miilla on 18/04/2009 08:19:47 No keep it I like it, but make it configurable in colour and transparency will that shut you up?
What we need is scalable fonts please as a lot of us use high resolutions and even at small resolutions its hard to read in the dark morbid colour scheme.
Can we also have font colours configurable.

I agree. I disliked the blue bar from the beginning and while it is an improvement to evaluating how full your cargohold is quickly I believe the colour should be adjustable.
I know people playing with red or green HUDs and a blue bar in-between is a no-go. It's quite bareable using a grey/pale-colured HUD...
Could have been looked into more carefully before releasing it - still like the idea though.

The entire problem could be solved by a moddable UI, which is what at least one more modern MMO has opted for (Warhammer). Then you (or rather someone with some scripting knowledge) can configure the display how you like...
I happen to dislike the blue bar - I find it grating and inconsistent with the rest of the user interface. How you resolve that other than providing a way to change it I have no idea. ___ My views may not represent those of my corporation, which is why I never get invited to those diplomatic parties... The solid baby blue on slightly shaded blue is less helpful than the standby of schemes of a dial, sliding bar perpendicular to the track, or opposing colors (navy blue -> lemon yellow, lime green -> crimson red, white -> grey -> black) for indicators. For colorblind people, people with faded displays like laptops, or people using a heavily-bluish color scheme, the baby blue is very hard to distinguish.
The suggestion of having the UI moddable is inline with CCPs current information fetching API to let people create their own applications. Please add a hot link to Rookie Info in your bio. |

It needs to be rounded on the ends or something...it looks like graphics from 1980. |

This is what happens when you let programmers create graphics! It works great, but it looks horrid.
Now bring on the artists, please!

Moddable UIs are great in theory, but in practice they create a lot of unbalance. (See WoW, for example) I hope they don't allow it... keeps everybody on the same playing field.
