Currently if contract price ends with lots of zeroes it's written in string form like "300,000,000 (300 millions)" or "1,500 (1.5 thousands)". Unfortunately this system doesn't work with prices like 249,999,999 or 600,000,001 which gives scammers a way to fool the innattentive people. Solution is really simple - round the price to 2 or 3 significant numbers and then make it a string like "249,999,999 (appr 250 millions)". Easy? Yes. Helps? A bit. Removes scam spam from trading hub local chat? Undoubtedly. Open your eyes. And Awaken. |

Two problems with that:
1) Scamming is allowed, and these scams work. I don't really understand why, but they do apparently.
2)Even less understandable, a lot of people prefer bad UI design because it makes them feel "uber" that they have learned to work around the design flaws.
Personally, I'd be all for a better UI. Perhaps one day... |

You are going to get a bunch of replies on how scams are part of the game, and how to avoid a scam by using your brain..blah..blah..blah.
Truth is, I don't see how misleading or confusing information and an array of 999999s can be of any use to the person reading the contract. So yes, anything to make contracts easier to read would be more than welcomed. And contracts that have contradictory information in the memo section should be flagged as bogus. In the real world, such a contract would be considered void, but there is not court system in EVE. |

Scamming is a noble form of PVP, you shouldn't conceive anything to remove it from the game or you kill one of the nicest parts of the game. |

Another thing that would be good were if they wrote the number as an actual currency. Almost all other places in eve the isk comes with its .xx at the end. What the scam tries to achieve is to fool people to believe the number 249,999,999 is actually 249,999.99 If the UI correctly wrote 249,999,999.00 it would be much easier to see that the number is too high. |

This doesn't bother me as I'm not dyslexic. I figure that people who are have more important problems than worrying about a game, however.

If you have a problem with contracts ending in lots of 9's then DON'T ACCEPT THEM. It really is that simple.
And yes, you should use your brain. Eve does not reward the stupid.

No, I'm not dyslexic. Yes, I can count 9's and 0's. No I didn't get scammed. The main purpose of this post is not to protect me from such scams but to reduce spam in trading hubs and surrounding systems. I don't like blinky local filled with messages about "very cheap" stuff being sold "just because I accidentally too many". Open your eyes. And Awaken. |

Minimise local. Turn blink off.

This is acceptable workaround. However I proposed a simple solution which won't hurt anyone.
Fix > Workaround. Isn't that obvious? Open your eyes. And Awaken. |

Your "fix" will hurt scammers. While I am not one this is unacceptable. In this case: Your solution =/= fix. My solution = acceptable workaround.

One can discuss if it's a "fix" or a "bug fix". Ok maybe it shouldn't display a "250 million" string for 249,999,999 isk, but then it shouldn't display one when it's 250,000,000 either. It's just sloppy programming that begs to be misused. Either you show this string all the time or never. Also as I stated earlier, as this is a currency I really think the value should be displayed as 249,999,999.00
Hell while we're at it, why not cut it at 249,999.999 and add a k at the end? or just write 249,999.999E3. They are all perfectly legal ways of representing a number, but in this case they just make it unnessesarily easy to misread.
I'm not trying to help all the morons out there that might fall for this childish way of scamming someone, just saying that the current UI is flawed and irregular. This scam is nothing else but the use of a flawed UI and while that is a perfectly good target, I think a UI that can be targeted with a scam is a failed UI. |
