Im a high sec PVPer and totally disagree with this suggestion.
Its really not hard to make sure you get the loot, just make sure you are within scoop range when the target pops.
I have got more from ninja looting other peoples kills than i have lost from people looting my kills. Survival of the fastest right click and scooper. Stuff lying around in space should be the free for any enterprising soul to capitalise on.
I would like looters of my kills to be flagged to me though, as that will not only result in more loot for me but more kills too xD. I normally just wardec and harass anyone who loots my kills though.
Stop being a ***** and expecting stuff handed to you and do something about the loot thieves yourself? Or maybe you should just find somewhere other than jita 4-4 undock to pvp?

Bingo. First come, first serve. Finders, keepers. Early bird gets the worm, etc.
And then, as a possible extension of that idea, add the option to "buy" the ownership of the wreck from CONCORD. First capsuleer who gets to the wreck and clicks a "Flag it!" button pays ISKies to CONCORD and claims ownership. The usual rules for ownership apply afterwards (i.e. not at all in 0.0).
The above could potentially be restricted so that only player corporations could claim ownership. That wrecks and cans from NPC corporations would always be "free for all".
I'm just making this up as I go along, but maybe there's something useful in here. Thoughts? |

THE KILLER was not forced to do any of this. THE KILLER is carrying out an act of choice. THE KILLER should adapt and make plans to grab the loot before someone else does. THE KILLER needs to learn appropriate use of CRUISE CONTROL.

If someone is taking the loot from a wreak you popped, then you are doing it wrong. If the loot means that much to you, have an alt or a corp member stand by to scoop the wreck before anyone else gets it. ----------------------------------- Look at me! I'm on the INTERNET!!! |

True, but then I'd have to smack them in local for being such a bunch of nubbins, and I don't have the time or inclination for doing that. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Get off the Jita 4-4 undock and maybe you 'll keep some of the loot, privanoob.
Under your proposal, the original owner of said wreck would have to commit a criminal act when retrieving his stuff. Ya, that makes sense.

Over time people have asked to 'Make the loot stealers flashy red' and the same for ninja salvagers, but I have a better proposal to you CCP.
If somebody gets a kill in PVP, the wreck of the victim should belong to THE KILLER. It is the killer who might have camped that station for 3 hours straight, THE KILLER who followed that war target for 18 jumps cloaked...
So hear me out, why not have locked wrecks? When a kill has been successful, aswell as getting a killmail I propose that the person who killed the victim gets a seperate mail, from CONCORD, with the password to access the wreck. Now seeing as the password could be anything at all, it could be a 5 digit number, which is randomly generated for every kill, so it is near impossible to guess. The wrecks could last in space for say 2 hours, and if not looted by the owner ( Killer ) are unlocked and the public society can get access to them.
As for PVE, the player who gets killed should only get the password to the wreck too, so they are able to come back and loot their ships wreck, as NPC's killed them I very much doubt they can do something with the wreck lol...
Please let me know what you think, I think this idea could be put into action very successfuly, and would help pvpers make isk for their time!

Killing someone doesn't give you the right to loot their wreck, it gives you an ability to do so.
You don't own that wreck, nor should you. You don't own that loot when it's inside the wreck, you don't own that loot when it's in your cargo either. Putting loot in your cargo doesn't make you the owner, makes you a target with more loot.
Only when it's hidden inside an NPC station you can call it yours.. until someone scams it from you.

Now here is a man who understands EVE!
Sometimes I think it would be nice to go back to the pre-RMR rules where can flagging did not exist, all floating thingys were free to whomever decided to take from them. However, I then consider all the shenannegans that can flagging brings about and that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. <-------------------------------------------------> "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." -Albert Einstein |

It should be realistic. If in high sec and there is a ship there to detect you stealing loot or cans (excluding salvaging wrecks, that should always be FFA, since its basically nothing more than junk), you should get sec adjustment and timer. Otherwise only locked cans should trigger timer and sec adjustment. CONCORD police would only believe the person who files the complaint if they have ships/secure can recordings to prove it. |

You got the kill, and now you want exclusive access to the wreck and loot too? In essence, you want all the fun and all the reward.
No. You want your wreck and loot? Get friends to do the work quickly for you.
Man, what a sense of entitlement.
Well I think If I get a kill, I should deserve the loot more than the idiot who does nothing and comes by in a frig to steal 100's of millions of loot don't you?
You kill someone and you get nothing, someone else comes and take all the loot. Guess who's the idiot |

I believe all salvage, loot and corpses that remain after a ship is destroyed should remain the sole possession of the person who owned the destroyed ship. That way, even if YOU destroy it and someone else loots it, you both become flagged to that player.
This, however, should also be carried over into NPC land, which is currently the only exception. NPC's should be brought in line with the rest of the game, not the other way around.
You don't get loot rights for killing someone. That stuff is still theirs, and that's the way it should remain. Fighting off scavengers and thieves? Part of the business. |

Couldn't this argument be used for mining to?
The miner did all the work, you have no right to kill him or steal his ore...
The only thing that I can think of that I MIGHT agree on, is if somehow you made it harder for the thief to scurry away. Maybe like blocking his ability to jump or warp away for like 30 sec. But personally, I think it's fine as it is... |
