Is one more profitable than the other? ATM I just sell the things I get ratting, but I wonder if reprocessing and selling what I get afterwards is maybe more lucrative. |

Depends on the exact type of loot, its metalevel, your reprocessing percentage and so on and so forth. Rule of thumb, metalevel 4 is almost always a "sell" thing, with letalevel 1 almost always "reprocess".

Sell things that sell for significantly more than their t1 counterparts, reprocess the rest. This is especially true in 0.0 or other remote areas-just bring back the expensive minerals and you've got a lot of the value at a low m3age. |

What I do, is:
1) right click on the item, then select Market Details. That gives me an idea of what it is selling for. 2) right click on the item, then select Reprocess. That gives me an idea of what the mineral value is.
Then I think about whether or not there are specific locations where this item might fetch more money.
Also, a major consideration is how badly I need the minerals contained. If it's got Zydrine such in it - it's a prime candidate for reprocessing - but that all depends on what else I saw above.
Every now and again you can get drops that are worth millions of ISK - so you don't want to reprocess that!

My rule of thumb:
Named items worth over half a mill: sell Other named items: Keep for corp/invention Ammo: Keep for corp. Base, unnamed items: Keep for invention (t2 requires a t1 for manufacture)or reprocess.
If you have low refining skills and poor station corp standings save up all your repro till you find a friend with better who will repro it for you. Just puy a station container and drop it all in there.

Edited by: Mara Rinn on 23/04/2009 02:33:50 I have often used the IGB Market Tool.
It will retrieve market reports from EVE Central and determine whether the thing that you are curious about is worth more as a whole item or as a bunch of minerals.
Note that the value of an item as minerals is only one aspect of whether it's better to sell or reprocess a module. You also have to consider the volume of the module itself versus the volume of the minerals it reprocesses into. If you're hauling Cap Booster 800s around anywhere, you're wasting cargo space that could have been used to haul more minerals.
