I wasnt sure where to post this so i just put it here, first things first my computer is fine with any other game, but for no obvious reasons it freezes up on me when ever i load up EVE, it usually goes like this, i load up EVE, and it works fine i can sign in and usually log in but within the first 15 seconds the mouse cursor disappears and i cannot do anything, i cant CTRL Tab out nor can i bring up the task manager to close EVE, and in the end i end up rebooting my computer to get it working again, if anyone can explain this problem and give me a valid soloution it would be mostily appreciated.
* Sorry for any spelling mistakes and/or crappy layout _____________________________________________

i have the same problem but it is usually more than 15 seconds for me. takes about 30 minutes to 2 hrs before it will totally lock on me. unfortunatley i dont have any solutions as of yet. im thinking however it may have been the last patch though. from reading several of these posts in this particular site you and i arent the only ones with problems.
dont give up just yet though. i love EVE and it will take some patience to get past this problem....
saddest day in EVE by far is when my sec rating went positive........*sobs* |

This is starting to **** ME OFF ! i've been playing eve from march and everything was fine till ... june/july. Sience then i can't play at all from my laptop!
i'm running winxp , P4 , 3.06, 512 ram, 64 Video Geforce GO 5200. (dell inspirion 5150)
i am TIRED of formatting, reinstalling windows, all possible different drivers and still no change. All other games work fine...
after 200 crashes or so ... here's what happened :)
eve shut down ... and a nice error appeared and then crashed :)
"The driver for the display device was unable to complete a drawing operation. Please check with the device manufacturer for a driver update"
"The display driver NVIDIA Geforce FX GO 5200 seems to be responsible for system instability"
Eve crashes even at login screen sometimes.

I have had this problem intermittently over the last few months, recently becoming totally unworkable. I have tried every solution under the sun and was on the verge of just packing it in and suspending my little foray into mmporgs. As a last resort I bought a 512 MB RAM stick and tried it. Alas the same old freezes, same old BSOD's and basically the remnants of my hair was slowly being pulled out. I had 2x 256 sticks in the PC originally and decided to pull them and leave the new 512 in there, Voilla, problem solved. Same with a single 256 stick in, EVE runs ok. Problems are only occurring when the RAM is being in different slots. Now I am certainly no PC guru, in fact, I would go so far as to say that, I havent got the foggiest about the dim and murky workings inside, but this worked for me, when all the re-installs, PCI movings and everything else failed. Hope it helps someone else.

I have had freezes also - only after the new patch was installed. I tried some things too and the latest thing was uninstalling ms sp2 and had a good 2 hours of play w/o freezing. I couldn't go longer than 10mins without a complete freeze before that, so it worked a little. The ram thing sounds like a good idea, if this doesnt work, i'll try that. I've got a ddr400 512mb and a ddr333 128mb. I'm not sure if the extra 128mb makes it faster than not mixing the 2 diff speeds.
My system: celeron 2.4gzh 640mb ram geforce 5700le 256mb win xp
What didn't work:
revert back to 53.03 drivers changing resolutions/performance turning music off(music would still play on lock up - more for my sanity than anything else)

I've been having graphical problems for a couple of months now - the last patch has made my computer blue screen of death if it tries to draw a station.
I'm using a dell inspiron 5100 laptop - looks like CCP don't test their patches on mobile machines :( _____________________________________________________________ War is much too serious a matter to be entrusted to the military. Georges Clemenceau (1841 - 1929)

Hi,
I am having the same problem, and, at the moment, I have no solutions. I am also using a laptop (with a mobility Radeon 9200), and the longest I have been without crashing is about an hour. I have tried all sorts of driver re-installs and I am lost! However, the latest suggestion I have had is that is may be a heat issue...

Me too....since the last patch!!I can log in and then it freezes in the Character page. It says: Loading:getting characters...but the progress bar doesnt move.
Has anyone tried removing the Cache? If so did it work?
Did anyone uninstall Eve and reinstall?? Frustrating this!!

I'd been getting freezes since one of the patches around June/July time, usually occuring on approach to a gate or entering a new system. The only thing I found cured it was putting:
audio=0
in my prefs.ini (file is in the eve cache folder). This, of course turns all the sound off which is a bit weird to begin with and makes combat...er...interesting but at least I can now play and if i fail to get the time bonus for missions then it's now my fault.

Well, after the sp2 uninstall haven't had a freeze up since, and I reinstalled all the latest video drivers too.
Hope that works for somebody!
