ok so i got this random idea
I know people used to maon about the ISK farmers just warping away and cloaking and sitting cloaked for hours till you left (happened to me when i used to be in 0.0) but no one came up with a way to get rid of this or they did but CCP didn't listen
My idea is that after a certain amount of time you spent sat cloaked the cloak deativates like a cool down sort of thing i mean the mod it self uses no cap and little system requirments so why not give it a penalty where say after 1-2 hours the cloak deactivates since its been running continously and overheated the system to run it without using cap and maybe a 15 second reactivation timer longer than when you manually deactivate since cool down procedure needs to be done.
this way if the person is just sat afk in a ss whille people are looking for them the cloaker isnt invincible since they can be probed down, i know about the covert don't worry iv allso thought of that whille typing, pretty simple give all cov op cloakers like stealth bomber black ops covert op ships the bonuse of been able to run the module covert ops cloak without it overheating so basicly they managed to build a add-on system were it stops the other systems overheating and feeds abit of coolent gas to the systems
this way covert ops and black ops arnt broken by this but the normal ships that arnt made to be able to run them for long times have a penalty
just my thoughts on this matter

If this change were to be made that's all that those guys would do. They'd lose a little efficiency in the belts but being able to just go afk and farm with one of their other accounts in safer space would be worth the drop in DPS.

good point but i don't think ISK farmers would make this diffrence like you said it wouldnt make a big dint but it would make a dint they may not like to have there
plus if at least 30% of ISK farmers switched to the black ops it would help with sales allso in high sec for these ships

The problem with 'cloaking' ideas is that, pretty much, they've been discussed many many times before. We (the users of eveo) keep re-inventing, re-discovering and re-discussing the same ideas over and over.
It's a shame you can't tag posts with game features (from a pull down list) to make finding them easy although I guess most people would just post without checking.
ANYWAY...
cov-ops cloaks on cov-ops, recons and black-ops BS should probably stay exactly as they are.
Try all the various other suggestions before messing with them if you wish.
i.e. non-cov ops cloaks get: cool down, potential detectability etc. etc.
but there's a ****-ton of more important things CCP should be tuning/fixing/working on IMHO ~~~~ There is no parody in this thread. Honest. |
