One thing i bugging the hell out of me... TIME!!!
I choose my timezone when I registered: CET (GMT+1)
But for some reason, BOTH in the game and on this board, time i approx 2 hours less than where I'm sitting (Actually, this board is 2 hours and 4 minutes off, but who cares about 4 minutes?)..
How the devil do I tell EVE that the clock is wrong???

Edited by: Ishtari on 31/08/2004 03:55:24 EVE`s in game clock always displays standard time. In fact it makes it a lot easier to coordinate time with people in different time zones. Everyone in game uses the time displayed by the clock as reference. So you get things as mining operation in yulai tuesday at 5 and everyone knows where and when to be without having to correct for local time.

Then what's the reason for choosing a timezone, if it's not reflected at the time??
When I see that a mission have a time limit that expires e.g. 21:45, I don't want to mean 19:45..
The clock inside EVE is far too small to use as an active reference, thus making other clocks a vital tool..

Actualy For most the clock is a little small but manageble and its set to GMT (dont mistake this for uk time as UK at present is on BST-British Summer Time GMT+1 and only runs GMT through part of automn and into spring).
Blegh If you must use a country as a reference use icland as that is were the makers of EVE (CCP) are from and based so eve runs on there time. The most probable reason for them asking for your time zone is to help with any communications they send you (just my opinion prob way off)
Note**Any noticable likeness off grammer or spelling not included with the post above**

Iceland runs GMT constantly, so GMT is the referance point for the IG clock. Also, as stated previously, the UK runs on GMT roughly half of the year, and BST the rest of the year.
And IIRC, even thought CCP are from Iceland, the servers are in London. Cloista Shadowblade. CEO of the Eligible Target Corp |

Quit whining! I have never been involved in an international site that used my timezone; I live with it. If I can add 10 hours to UTC times to convert them to local time you can add 1 or 2 hours.

Confused the hell outta me to, set my clock to GMT when I installed only to find it an hour behind in game.
Easy solution, just set all the other clocks in the house to GMT, who needs to go out anyway

why change your clock at all??
when playing eve, the time is displayed in the bottom left corner...this is the time used when given missions with timed bonuses....so if your time bonus for a mission runs out at 21:45, then look at the clock in the eve widow to see how much time you've got left.... ------------------------------------------------

I like it that the clock displays server time. At least you can be dead sure about when downtime and patches are scheduled to happen without a bunch of calculations to calculate from local time to server time.

did we really need to dig up a 3 year old thread to discuss it?

Hey, its better than creating a redundant new thread. It also has to do with the way the searching works on this site :-/
