What catagories are best used for reporting market botting?

I'd go Rules & Policies > Exploit. (IBTL)

Don't waste your time, it's probably just someone that's better than you.

I've no shame in losing this game to folks that sacrificed sleep and jobs to keep their market order ahead of mine.
I'd not describe them as better than me.

Rules and Policies and Exploits is indeed the correct category for any exploits you witness.

Who cares? Get better macros yourself. There is bunch of working macro programs out there that EVE does not detect. Just find it yourself!

If they were able to force you to give up or come to the forums to whine about it then I'd say they won and you lost. I won't assign a judgement as to which of you is better though But if you are wishing you could be making sales and they are preventing you, I think we all know the answer.

*Disclaimer - I think market bots are a myth, and will continue to hold that creed until an open source code for one is published. What you do have is people with a laptop, an internet connection, and the ability to multitask all day long. If you don't like it, kick their profit margin in the reproducticles.

Bots exist - the fact programs like EVE-Metrics can read your market log makes it a very possible possibility.
EVE-Metrics, reads you cache and uploads the market information YOU have viewed to the website. So what is to stop someone programing exactly the same thing, but compares it to your very own sell order screen. Database is not that big a deal to track what you do.
EMMA for example tracts your orders, it wouldn't take much to re-read your orders, compare to what your cache is reporting then macro a 0.01 ISK change.
Now I can't program for crap, but just knowing the tools out there, I can imagine it wouldn't take someone long to combine them together to create a bot that does exactly what people are experiencing.

Would it be physically possible to create one? Probably, I have infinite faith in the ingenuity of programmers.
However, not once have I ever seen any evidence of a market bot existing. It IS possible to find evidence of mining macros, etc, a little time spent with a search engine will come up with one. Never seen any such evidence for a market bot.
It's really not hard to tweak your orders fast enough that to somebody else it would seem like botting, especially if you only work a small subset of markets. Have a laptop with you while you're watching TV, or working out. It doesn't require much interaction to refresh a few market pages every couple minutes, you can easily do it while you're doing other stuff, and it only takes ONE guy doing that for the market you're working to make it frustrating enough that people cry wolf all over the place.

I remember competing against market bots more than 3 years ago. No matter what time of day I changed my price the same player would overcut me by 0.01 isk a few minutes later.
A player able to do this 23 hours a day is def a bot.
Player in question got banned/disappeared when ccp did that password reset ages ago, I guess the bot wasnt that smart and repeatedly tried to log in with the same password.
Bot def exist , but proving someone is using a bot is utterly impossible.
Some changes to the market functionality that renders bot useless would be good , like brokers that actually earn there fee and raise and lower buy/sell prices |
