If you're mission ganking:
You don't want a mwd or scram. MWDs don't work in deadspace. Additionally, when you warp to the entrance of a mission, or enter a new room, you're often uncloaked by unavoidable becons, gas clouds and the like. Meaning you need to be in point range or they will warp before you can close.
The curse's advantage is it's ability to deal with adds. Not being in web/scram range of the opponent and still being able to neut is awesome. However, you still do **** poor dmg and it still takes ags to kill anything with any HP. I prefer 2x TD on the curse with a shield buffer. The armor setups are too slow imo, allowing things like 'canes to catch up to you and eat you or tackler hacs to land webs on you.
It's a slowish cruiser with a mediocre buffer, delayed, destructable light dps and bad resists for shield buffering. This means it's extremely fragile. Most mistakes are fatal. BUT, it can kill basically anything that isn't passive shield tanked or a missile spewer. But that's not exactly ideal for catching ratters OR dealing with gangs (I see cerbs and drakes and huginns everywhere).
Pilgrim is a much sturdier beast from a HP perspective. But it engages at the worse ranges. Web and scram range. If they have a few gang mates and a you engage their bait. You're likely dead. And while ECM drones might save you, you do 0 dps while they're deployed and you're hoping for a lucky dice roll. Personally, I don't bring them at all.
Pilgrim is a great mission ganker. Basically free movement anywhere, a cov cloak while you desperately fight the widget movement interface and eats active tanks up. I've had no problem with mission ravens in it at all. Plus deadspace entrance points allow you to see hostile reinforcements with plenty of time before they land on grid, helping to make up for the pilgrim's range weakness.
I solo in both. Besides missiles the worst part of the curse is the fact that no one will ever fight you. Most of the other 'solo' ships flee from you and the gangs that will fight you have ways to kill you. Plus the slow dps and prevalence of cap injectors means that you'll have to abandon many of the fights you'd have won if you had some more dps.
Pilgrim is a great mission gank tool. But I wouldn't use in livespace. The fact that it's always in web/scram range means it's a t2 suicide ship versus any bait. And, let's face it, you'll find lots of bait when you're off solo hunting.
