As my first post was mostly prodded and ignored IĘll try againą
Since there removal from Apocrypha and after two and a half years of playing eve with the old dynamic engine trailsą
I still canĘt get used to seeing ships that now seam to float in space without speed effects and dynamic engine trails anymore, with no other way of telling there moving without anything inert to compare them to or having the velocity set in the overview columns..
And surely some of you feel the same? Missing the ōzoomö factor they added to your interceptorsą Or the nice little pixelated lines your drones and fighters left behind as they orbited stuff and zipped around space?
So if any of the developers have glanced over this post, an acknowledgment would be niceą

Acknowledged, we miss them too. We had to take out the old ones, as they were performance hogs, didn't jive with our new and improved rendering code and sometimes looked silly. We will certainly put in new ones, can't promise you when. It's on the list of things to do for the graphics programmers, but there's actually quite a lot of stuff on that list. If you are a graphics programmer and want this fixed, simply apply for a position at CCP, we are looking for graphics programmers amongst other things...

I hadn't even noticed they were gone... o.o
Maybe I haven't been looking too close... Anyway, I agree, though aren't there space particles that appear to 'shift' as you move, still? As in, they stay where they are as you move, but the movement is still perceived? Or are those gone as well and I've just not been looking? ---- "Sounds like a bad case of pikal envy, if you ask me."

What about the gate particle system that almost made it into game last year. Will we see it return in a functional form?

Thank you, i will keep waiting.
And sadly i do not know a thing about codeing... small scale computer systems and hardware maintenance is more my thing... :(

Yup. In essence, the graphics programmers created a ton of new pretty toys for technical artists to play with in Apocrypha. The art team is just beginning to use these toys, the first iteration was what you was in Apocrypha 1.0, but they are experimenting and figuring out new and interesting ways to use those. Same goes for the particle system. Whenever you introduce a new technology it takes some time for the "consumer" to really make the most of it. Playstation I was a good example of this. The games for it evolved dramatically while the hardware stayed the same, there was just clever people tinkering and inventing more and more cool stuff. Although I hope our effects supersede Playstation I graphics...

I would so apply for a concept artist job and possibly business management part time position, but alas military has a leash on me for another few years and I got to put my benifits to good use afterwards going to an art college so I can make commercial grade stuff.
so far away hope eve still around and ccp still hiring when I get there.

I've always had a real desire to work as a concept designer. I can't draw and I can't work code for the life of me, regretfully, so it's always been disheartening to know that getting in the field of game design would be next to impossible for me.
If someone would just hire me to daydream, though, I would be really blessed

wow a dev reply, while you're at it can you poke whoever it was that made the new probe bubble graphic and change it back please, it's far too difficult and annoying to try and find the control boxes with that damned hex pattern.

Finally. Posted quite a few bug threads and general threads and never got a response on ship trails.
Please bring them back ASAP. They gave an excellent reference to speed. Right now, I couldn't tell you if I was going 8000m/s or 200m/s, were it not for the few dust particles that streak by.

May I ask if the hyperspace jump from Homeworld has been considered as a jump animation for capital ships?

As for cyno jumps for the capitol ships I would rather see the space time fabric tear apart in a voilent tempest of Aether and energy and bits of the desination system and devour the capitol ship for entering cyno. Exit cyno would be a spewing mass of the other space and the ship 'pours' out of it.

Def not a developer are you? In UI design you can do prototypes in a variety of mediums. If you are just trying to plan out screenspace and basic functionality it is much easier to mess about in flash or with paper than it is to keep coding it out.

I like the speed effect from I-War.
In that the HUD projected a grid of reference points. As you increased in speed the reference points became lines. I think they changed colour when you hit a particular speed too.
Ships left trails too.

I applied and was given a programming test, but not having heard anything since then I guess I didn't get it ^^;. Not having experience in C++ or python is probably a big barrier, last I checked the programming positions asked for 2 years C++ or python experience. Still, at least it gives me time to work on my own projects after I graduate. I'll make my own damn EVE Online, with hookers and blackjack, and none of you are invited! :p

Hmmm Not a fan of programing, but I am a fan of wiping nerdly minions into a programming frenzy. Also keeping their natural cynical, and often anti social behavior in check. I reward good programing and positive behavior with an unhealthy amount of red bull, and some abstract anime show (which only they and 10 other people have heard about)..... Is there a position for that.
Or perhaps community slapper? Where in by I find whiny customers that will pay you regardless, and smack them around to tell them to quit their *****ing.... Or is that a Chinese branch only position?
I do like the gate particles though. _________________________
