Whenever I open an assets window or switch the system/constell/region/all setting, everything stops for several seconds. This did not happen before today's patch.
Anyone else experiencing this?

What you describe happened to me before the patch, I'm guessing I had too many stations. I got used to it. But now it freezes forever, completely, so that I have to shut down andrestart the game.Meaning I cannot use assets right now. |

any news regarding to this? Is it a patch problem, or do I simply have too many assets which in effect cause the 'freeze'?

I'd suggest assuming it's the "too many assets in too many locations problem", and to go out and try and consolidate them as much as possible, then see if that seems to resolve it. If it does fix it, then you know what it was, and can avoid it in future (let's face it, it could just be that the query the server needs to do to find all your assets takes so long it times out). If it doesn't fix it after you've cut everything down to maybe 20 stations, then you know it's a bug.

What you suggested is very reasonable. In fact it's what I am currently doing. Trying to consolidate them in as few stations as possible. Not an easy task considering I put region-wide buy order in more than 3 regions.
However, I had the same number of assets as prio to the patch. And prior to the patch I had no such time-outs or freezes...

Edited by: Jacmert Corra'Halcyon on 02/09/2004 22:22:44 Still, the players shouldn't have to be performing work arounds to get their Assets and Eve client working. I guess just keep letting the devs know that there's a problem with Assets. -------- StrongHold - Ghost Fleet Jacmert - "Jesus Boy" http://www.sfu.ca/~pkchan - I love my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ |

iv got 100's of assets in over 50 stations and just assumed the stall was becuase of this becuase its always been like that.. info being transfered from server to client - more stuff, more load time.. as said before just trash or sell the stuff u dont need, or spend a day using an indy to collect all ur gear into one place (im doing that as i type for an uber clear out)

It is true that I have a serious amount of stations in my assets list and also quite some assets BUT it was the same amount before the patch, and it never took even approximately that long. Also, if you have loaded your assets in the "all" setting and then cut down to "region" or even smaller, it takes the same massive amount of time AGAIN. It says that assets are delayed by some minutes (which is perfectly ok), but I'd guess that is to prevent exactly what is happening right now (huge reload amount). So why does this happen now, and did not before the patch? I'd guess there was some internal change to how the assets system works... please streamline this.

anyone else experiencing this? Any workarounds? I just noticed that when I am in window mode [well, I am always in window mode] I can't even move the window then the game loads the assets screen and the game has frozen.

My latest experience is, this terrible lag only occurs, if you have the setting to anything else than "all items". In this mode it seems to work decently, although it sucks to be unable to show only this region's items and so on without 10 seconds complete freeze.

What I am curious about is if there are any other people that have the same problem. It seems that only me, Kakita and Tech2 Shoppe are experiencing this, or that the rest are not that vocal about it.

try doing a search in the market for veldspar and going to whole region and clicking on the demand window... i'll pretty much guarantee that it'll hang your eve window... theres too many things on that list for your connection to handle, esp when your on 56k.

Skywalker's reply really puzzled me. How come the problem not apprear on his laptop but only on his desktop pc?
I thought perhaps it had something to do, so I set EVE priority to High [through task bar], but I still get the same 'freezing'.
Could it be a client issue and not a server-side one?
