Hi all. I've been running a lot of missions in Caldari space (Caldari Navy, Lai Dai, going to start Ishokune, etc. soon) to build up standings for higher level missions and LP for (eventually) faction ships and items. The problem is that this is absolutely trashing my standings with the Gallente Fed. I don't really want to become persona non grata in Gallente space, especially since down the road (probably a year or 2, but still) I want to cross-train Gallente ships and be able to acess their T2 ships and faction gear. On top of that, my corp is based in Gallente space and most of my ships and other possessions are stored at corp HQ. I'm only at -2 (just under -2 with diplomacy, so I can run some missions) now, but I've managed to get there in a week after running Gallente missions the previous week, so I don't see it taking long to go past the point of no return.
My question, then, is how best to keep my Gallente standings out of the negatives without hurting the Caldari Standings I've slowly built up, and conversely how best to continue pushing up my standings with the various Caldari corps without trashing my Gallente Standings.

From memory doing missions for Caldari the Gal standing is capped to a base of -5 (with diplomacy 5 this is -2) so if you dont shoot up Gal objects (ships/officers/structures) then it wont drop below this. Best avoid faction missions.
If train social 5, will give +25% to positive standings gains - very useful.
If ran missions for Amarr then the derived standings cap at 7.0 for Caldari, -2 Gal, -5 for min (all base before connections/diplomacy) - ie wont have any problems with Gal space with some diplomacy trained.
Could run missions for 2 factions, eg Cal/Min (to keep the gal/amarr standing reasonable) or Gal/Amarr (to keep min/cal standing reasonable).

I noticed my Diplomacy skill rating improvement did not hit the opposing faction standings at all. So that was absolutely the fastest way to raise one with no impact on the other. Only gets you so far but it beats grinding one then the other just to get near zero without taking a Caldari hit.

You could also run missions for the Sisters. The hit to Caldari/Amarr is very small compared to the boost to Gall/Min.

Yes you should run some missions for the Sisters or for the Minmatar to keep the Gallente standing high, and avoid any missions that make you shoot Faction Ships (identified by the Gallente, Minmatar, Caldari or Amarr logo in the briefing). Most of the bad standing comes from killing ships, thus avoid those missions.
Standings: 6.55 Amarr 6.10 Caldari 4.95 Gallente ---

So long as you don't ever do faction missions, you'll never be unrecoverable.
