I keep seeing people post that an ECCM module makes it harder to scan down your ship. I don't quite believe it. Can anyone verify this?

In a word: yes. How hard it is to scan you down depends on sensor strength / sig radius. ---------------------------------------------

But eccm makes your sensor strenght stronger, so shouldn't it be easier to scan your ship?

To determine how hard it is to scan down your ship you take your signature radius divided by your sensor strength. In other words high sig radius = bad, high sensor strength = good.
And yea this is my sig. Real PVP'ers only use f1. |

It doesn't make sense to you? This is eve where "solid chunks of matter at hypersonic speed" outrange a beam of laser light through space.
Anyway, ECCM is even more useless now that ECM boats get 30% bonuses. ECCM needs a buff or just make it a (stronger) script for a sensor booster to use. Could care less about the harder to be scanned bs

Forget normal ECCM in your gangs and use remote ECCM instead it gives a 120% boost, has 25km optimal + 25km falloff and is MULTISPEC, so if any of your buddies gets jammed or you have ships in gang that are high value targets for jammers you can buff the hell out of them no matter the race of ship they are flying.

But it is far harder to make a nice chain which pilot boosts which pilot (compared RR is easy and straightforward). You have a larger chance of friendly fire since they all got friendlies locked. And finally you get cascade failure, one gets jammed -> the sensor strength of the next one drops -> etc. ---------------------------------------------
