I don't really know what to think about this. This kind of paradox has always got me baffled. On the one hand you got it totally right. Despite having a much older playerbase than WoW or the likes, the average EvE player is barely able to breath by himself. You cannot credit them with any intelligence at all. Just look through the fitting discussion forum, or any other forum to be honest. While the average xxdarksongoku1995 rogue still manages to somehow get the right equip and spec his char the right way, EvE players seem to completely lack the needed thought process for that. They end up lacking thermodynamics, because when you heat your modules, they take damage and who would want THAT?! They end up with armor rigged active shield tanked Shield extender hulls with 3 different weapon types. They end up with invulns on cruisers. Unless you tell them exactly what to do. A corp mate of mine once said: "You realize you've basically been the guy bragging about punching kids who can only count to potato."(c) Abominare.
On the other hand this doesn't really help them to become better. If you face a fleet of experienced pilot, who can think for themselves you get smashed. You get smashed hard, and i think my corp is a good proof for that. |

Are we talking "what's most effective?" or "what's most artful?" I'm going to answer this from the perspective of a small group fighting a large group.
Personally, I think speed (sometimes called nano) tactics are the most artful and impressive with which I'm familiar. Well executed, that's the only way I know where you can kill large numbers of adversaries with very few people ( and no remote reps).
I also love station games, but they're not nearly as artful (usually) as well executed speed games. However, you can do some very clever things in station games. I'd caveat this by saying that station games also have the ability to be total crap... it's all about who's playing and whether they know what they're doing.
I consider Remote Reps to be one of the least artful methods. |

Troll Gremlin wrote:So im wondering what ppl think or know from experience works best in small gangs or solo.
tactics and fitings f.eks:
Brawling Kiting Sniping nanotanks vs heavy tanking active vs passive tanking Speedtanking (Dose it work aganist gangs?) Baiting (what ships work best?) Alpha vs dps? cloaking vs logoff etc. Basically when which tactic works the best for u and why?
For small gangs and solo work, Eve is a VERY good rock, paper, scissors game. If your enemy has rock, bring paper but make him think you have scissors. This breaks down as we get into larger groups, as then the only counter is an even larger group. |

my favourate atm has to be using a frigate (for me this is a taranis) to try to pull and kill tacklers off of larger gangs, they are cheap, fun, good surviveability & gtfo ability but everyone has their own thing they pick up easily and/or prefer to use |
