this is wierd since the new patch, differnt drivers, and win xp service pack 2, everything is fine. the game does not take 100 percent of the cpu in fact I can have other programs open as I play. no lag whatsoever. everything is fine and I got all the details up. to be honest I dont know what fixed it all I know is that I am not having problems any more. the last thing I remember was clensing my computer of spy ware and ad ware. u should do the same. update ur drivers install win xp service pack 2.

I have also got a low frame rate issue. I noticed it while mining...
I have found a work arround all be it making the game less fun.
Disable the sound card on device manager in windows befoer running EVE
I now get 30fps all the time
I have tested 2 Sound cards and both make the game go very slow. Sound blaster live 5.1 and AC97 onboard.
I have removed and reinstalled the game with fresh and old data on HD (cache empty or full) and this makes no diff
I have a 9800pro graphic card and run at 1600*1200 res.
It would be nice if I could disable sound in game but currently i have only been able to speed things up by disabling the sound card before running the game.
Hope this helps.

is it just me not having that problem. I used to have it. It was very bad. especially by a station or planet, but now that I upgraded to sp2, and changed my ati drivers everything is fine. I get good resolution, I am running at 24-bit. 1280x800,
my specs are : Compaq X1000 laptop Radeon 9200 32 MB card 1.7 ghz dothan core Pentium M 1,024 MB of ram 60 gb 7200 hard drive
no problems here with all screens open and highest resolution.

EVE has a weird engine, its not very graphics intensive yet still runs like crap. I get the same framerate with 4xaa as I do without it and my GPU temp increases more playing soltaire then playing EVE.

A friend in my corp helped me with my problem. Remove "ships occluded by sun" and remove sound acceleration in "DXDIAG", this should give you a little better framerate.
This is a serius issue in Eve and i hope CCP is on it so it can get fixed soon instead of soon(TM).. So get some work done for a change CCP!
Btw. ATI cards seem to suffer alot more than Nvidia cards, i just switched from a GF4 TI4200 to a ATI 9800XT and i actually get lower FPS in Eve now.

Check your bandwidth allocation when it gets real choppy. Go to your hardware settings, and check and see if hardware acceleration for video and sound is turned up to high (higher, the choppier). See what's going on in the background.
ABOVE ALL ELSE Run the sasser worm check from semantic. (ie Check and see if SCVHOST is taking up an abnormal amount of memory). ----------
