Hi, I am using wine 1.0.1 on Ubuntu 9.04.
I am having troubles changing my resolution. I can change the resultion of my screen while I am in fullscreen mode, however when I switch it back to windowed mode (which is what I want, a low resolution windowed mode) it goes back to my desktop's native resolution of 1680x1050.
How can you fix this?

Please resize image to a maximum of 400 x 120, not exceeding 24000 bytes, ty. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] - Cortes |

Winecfg --> Desktop Integration --> Check "Emulate a virtual desktop" --> suit resolution to taste.
Then run EVE in "fullscreen" mode in your own custom resolution.
You can also do this on the terminal:
wine explorer /desktop=EVE1,1024x768 "C:\path\to\eve.exe"
Obviously, adjust the resolution to taste. That will also run it in a virtual "desktop" making the EVE client think it's in fullscreen. It's quite handy.
However, never resize the screen; the client doesn't seem to like it.

Here is the line I use to launch EVE in Ubuntu 9.04. It perfectly fits the window between the title bar and taskbar on a 1680x1050 display:
wine explorer /desktop=0,1680x1002 "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\eve.exe"
It works best with wine's "Allow window manager to decorate windows" setting disabled.

Please don't use 0 as a desktop name, use something like EVE, or EVE1, EVE2, etc. WTS Raysere's Cap R Ubuntu Eve Guide |

Use the above along with Devilspie and you'll make it appear fullscreen, but it's windowed. And Eve thinks its windowed. Pop between virtual desktops as you wish. ENJOY!

I've gotten to the point where I am trying to get my virtual screen to the size of 1650x960, and I am trying to get the game to run in that size, but whenever I run that command, for the loading screen it will be set to that resolution, but then it will go to the resolution that it is set as now, being 1280x960. Is there a way to force eve to load in a specific resolution?

Try to set the virtual desktop directly per winecfg. Running the command above doesnt work for me, too.
PS: I run my client(s) in 1560x975 on my 22" with a native res of 1680x1050. Just keep the ratio (4:3,16:9,16:10) |
