Originally by: Barakkus Try living in China sometime at the social level the farmers there are. You'd play eve 15 hours a day to survive instead of ending up in some factory for less money and much more hazardous conditions. [edit: spelling :P]
If you have a computer capable of playing EVE and an internet connection and know how to use PCs, there must surely be more effective ways of earning money.
I find it more likely that some of these farmers are sitting in warehouses being paid a small amount of money per hour, but even then I find it odd that computer literate people can't be employed to do more profitable things.

Amen brother! Hopefully you know how to kill a man or speak three different languages first. And beware of creepy romanian sexually abused children with M249 SAWs and axes...

It's not their computer or their internet connection. They are both provided for them by the company they work for. |

Big whup. Yes that's capitalism, No I don't care that you don't see it. No I don't care about anybody but myself. No, nobody protects me from my own stupidity either except me. No, whatever it is you're crying about, just no, that's in your head, not mine. Whatever it is, just no.
When the killing has stopped, when the greed has stopped, when the struggle for control of the most humans you can has stopped, then you get back to me and I'll sing a different tune. Until then, your head is your problem.
I'd laugh heartily in your direction, except I simply don't care enough about you whoever you are, if you're not doing my bidding, it's likely you're of no interest whatsoever to me, and neither are your darling miracle children.
Normally I wouldn't even bother to reply to your posts, but given the fact you are such a confounded moron I feel compelled to. I'm not a bleeding heart liberal by any stretch of the imagination, but I do look out for "me and mine" and ensure the people around me are well.
The fact you say you'd "laugh heartily in their direction but you couldn't care enough" proves that you do care enough to try and justify yourself, and your so-called justifications are so pathetic they're not even laughable.
You wonder why you got trolled? Look in the mirror! When you vomit our bile and putridness like that, you're going to get trolled. Yes this is EVE, yes it's harsh, and yes, believe it or not it's a fantasy - but your raving stench applies to someone who was trying to relate it to real life and the poor sap sat behind the computer.
When the killing and greed stop? They will never stop so long as there are people like you about, because you propagate and foster them with your actions. Whilst that's fine in an online fantasy where you can immerse yourself you seem to also be applying it to the poor sap trying to feed his family, working 15 hours a day.
I wonder if you'd do the same in that situation? I doubt it, because you're the greedy and self serving one - and that will only get you so far, in EVE as it does in real life. You've hit your glass ceiling and you're not going any further.
Enjoy your capitalism and your life. Maybe hit CTRL+Q once in a while, look in the mirror and I dunno... go for a walk?

Yes, that did occur to me, hence the second half of my post!
My point was that anyone (individual or company) who has computer+internet should be able to put their workforce to a more productive use.

Yeah, like macro farming in WoW.
If it keeps 'em away from EvE, it's gotta be good.

Besides that, it's far more profitable and doesn't require much attention. A farmer can just sit and oversee 5 comps without actually playing.

Awesome, Eve players do have souls. I was starting to lose hope.
Also, just for fun, do an search on the forums for Tiny Tove. It's the forum equivalent of an ink blot test.
I'd like to take this opportunity to quote Tiny Tove from one of his earlier posts.

On this subject, I have done a bit of research in the whole farming/ISK selling business (and have done it before with other games, too). The truth is that the 'successful' sellers are usually not involved in any form of macro farming, chinese workers or whatever you call it. They simply buy the ISK from a supplier (could be a mission runner, trader, macro hauler, slave operation, chinese sweatshop, etc.) and sell it, getting a profit margin off the deal.
In fact, I believe quite a bit of the ISK sold this way comes from legit players, who can speak english just fine and know how to work the system. ISK sellers aren't the ones hiring people to play EVE 10 hours a day.

If you hadn't noticed, China isn't exactly the bastion of freedom in Asia. Last I looked they were still under the control of an oppressive Communist regime. Not much opportunity for advancement...
I knew a guy in my guild in EQ2 when I still played that lived in North Korea. He mentioned how bad it was over there once in guild chat, how the government was so oppressive, and how people were starving etc...he disappeared after that, we never heard from him again...
Not all countries are as peachy and nice like the U.S. or western Europe...

Oppressive regime sure, but not communist at all. I'm back from a bit more than two weeks in China and frankly, there are other opportunities for computer literate people with some English skills.
If you dig around there is plenty to read about the gold farming business, including employees and former employees interview , and you'll learn than plenty of the workers are obsessive players that got suckered in getting paid low wages for their addiction.
