I've heard vauge stories how some people have traveled to jove, but never belived in it.
But seriously, is it posible? just do fly all the way there instead of using a jump gate? How long would it take? and what can i expect if i make it there?

Ppl traveled there by setting their clone to a system in jove space and self destructing. Alternative way was sending a stuck petition and saying in your petition that you were in jove space (GM's didnt bother to check where the system actually was).
And jove space is empty. Gallente stations if i remember right, nothing on market, crap roids.

Now for the hijack, I've heard that only the volounteers will have the option to morph their main characters to become jove.

I went out to the middle of nowhere to try to get to Jove space. Couldn't find a jumpgate (suprise). I've heard there are hidden jumpgates, just not to Jove space.
Is it possible with sensor boosters and similar hardware to get a scan resolution high enough to detect secret objects? If there are hidden jumpgates or (more likely) hidden belts in a system, are they detectable with boosting?

There have been players that made it to Jove space, but they have been mysteriously teleported back to "known" space. The routes this was possible with in the past have been sealed off.
There's not much in Jove space currently. You won't find any NPCs flying around in there. The resources are there, but that's about it. When we are closer to opening up Jove space, it will become inhabited.
As for Danton's comment, there are very few volunteers that have access to Jovian characters, and they are storyline related. There haven't been any plans to make the Jovian race vol/ISD only.

Just wanted to add that I'd think it an excellent idea if jove characters were restricted to the people that put in hours of their time to make playing more enjoyable for others & no I'm not one of them, well in that sense anyways.

Yup, that's the plan, but there's nothing even remotely set regarding a time that is going to occur. Shiva has to roll out, as does Kali. It will occur at some point in time in the future. (So no use of "SoonÖ" here.)

When I first saw EVE screenshots like ages ago and before beta started I immediately wanted to play Jove - because I am a science ***** and loved the organic look of their ships.
That would really be tooo sweet and would absolutely make my day. Would be a nice change from playing an 'ebul' slaver RP-wise, too :)

Last i heard, dreadnoughts aren't just tech 2 BS's,but a larger class of combat ship that will fit in between current BS's(and their tech 2 variants) and Titans...

Haven't they? Maybe thats just what they want you to believe.
But seriously the jove have done alot, from cloning tech, to different interactions they have had with us.
Personaly, when I was first downloading the game I wanted to be a Jovian, but after being here a while, I have been pulled into minmatar culture. :) The idea of having jove ships and tech is nice, but you loose all sense of individuality being just another clone.
I only hope the DEVs have seen what happens when you release a superiour character class (see SWG), and find a balance so that it doesnt screw up the game, requiring multiple patches just for jovians.

As a SWG player, just wanted to highlight the above statement - Bunny is not currently here. He is on a SpecOps mission to kill the leader of a small third world country, the first step on the road to world domination. |

Those Jovies get on my nerves, hanging around in stations handing out magazines and leaflets, knocking on my hangar door on a sunday afternoon when I am trying to have a lazy day!
Why anyone would want to join them is beyond me, they are all nutcases!

Yeah, that about sums it up, people under 18 cannot possibly give off the sense of infinite wisdom with a mix of mad cow desease that is the jove vibe anyways. They're still too much into world domination 'we are the borg', save/destroy the universe type deals to be as subtle as you'd need to be to do these beings any justice.
Yes give me the speech about how there's always exceptions, I still think it's a bloody good idea.

Do I have to supply semi privillaged communications?
Stop griping about server instability and go buy an EVE mug!
Additionally with the purchase of each mug you will receive two(2) invisible Elves.

the best idear IMHO to intreduce the Jove as a playeble race would be by them having double and tripple training time Jove BS skill lvl 24
that way you can train the darn things but expect using 1-3 months getting lvl 2
that would mean that a "pure" Jovean Charector would take forever to train (as their ships etc are better then ours)
Thank You Paw Sandberg

Vegeta what how exactly does one become of member of the Orestes Fanclub?
Do I have to supply semi privillaged communications?
You have to send me an in-game mail about wanting to join, then I, the chairman and currently the only member will evaluate your application.
2005.04.25 16:40:42 combat Your 1400mm Howitzer Artillery II perfectly strikes LawrenceNewton [WARAG], wrecking for 2706.9 damage.
