I have been having a bit of a hard time with recruiting members for a new corporation, what methods have you guys found to be the most successful?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

The reason I ask is because most pilots seem to be looking for quick action and don't have the vision to see long term goals and objectives through.

Organization and tangible goals are whats gonna bring in people. Outline (as best you can without giving out a bunch of information on who you want to screw over with your growing numbers) what you want to do and what you believe you need to do it. Once you start getting pilots, make use of eve-voice, ventrilo, or teamspeak to get to know them, build up a good close knit group, and it will just naturally attract new people. But be patient, it will start slow.
BTW this is just my point of view, I don't claim to have ever been a great recruiter :p

If you can't accomplish something on short-term, how ever are any potential recruits ever going to believe that those visions and long-term goals ever will be realized?
If you didn't understand the rhetorical question: Without goals in the near future that pilots can actively engage in, you won't stand a chance as a new corporation.
Doing PR for the corporation with something happening in the now, is seldom a problem (unless the activity are a bunch of illusions).

That seems to work better then helping an already dead ally, getting whiped out by coalition forces and then log off Signature Locked. Please refrain from amending a moderated warning. Navigator |

That's maybe because those are your long term goals and objectives and not theirs?

Someone who isn't of high quality?
Admittedly High standards helps with retention of players, as if your very mediocre, people are likely to either want to run the corp, or will move into a better standard of corp when they get good enough.
One thing you should not forget, is to keep in touch with the players you already have, as said before, it encourages new people to stick around. Also don't forget to reward players, just dont give out roles etc willy nilly.

Don't just take anyone, if someone actually responds to your corp advert, and asks "what can you corp offer me" then spit in their face and ask what they can offer your corp. You dont go to a job interview assuming you already got the job, they got to earn it. outline what your corp does, why it does it, main TZ ect ect, the basics.
They should want to join and earn the right to join.

What does the common pilot get from the so called long term goals? If it is to watch the CEO's wallet get fatter don't be shocked if your members have massive disinterest with them.

This. If you tell people you run frequent pvp ops and then only run 1 a week on the same time zone then people feel lied to. If you say you're getting into massive mining/production and people only see 1 mining op a week then it fails. The best bet is to set up your long term goals, then sit down with leadership and decide what short term events need to happen in order to reach them. Once you have those identified, make them happen. Recruit pilots on your short term goals, and then see them stick around to help you accomplish the long term things. Under new ownership |

Depending on how patient you are an alternative is to join an established corp for a while. Build up friends, contacts and learn from the corp you're in (what works, what doesn't, how they recruit etc).
When you feel ready and/or find enough like minded people form your own corp then. You'll have the advantage of being better prepared as well as a core of reliable people to help get the corp rolling.
