hey, im looking to get into 0.0 for a few days to get a bit of money ratting and i was wondering about the easiest way to make it through the choke points. is cloaking as soon as you jump through and then trundling out of the bubble the safest way to do it, or is it just a matter of getting on just after DT and making a mad dash?

The best way to do it is diplomatically.
Find out who owns the space you want to play in, and whether it it Not Blue Shoot It or Not Red Don't Shoot.
Then you find out who their Diplo's are, and see what you'd need to do.
Then wander up there in a cloaked frigate and verify you havent been lied to, and then move ship(s) in.
Me, I'd drop in to the forums at republic alliance dot net, make sure they know who you are, and then have fun in Great Wildlands.

Go into Providence for simple ratting. All Providence alliances that hold space there and enforce the peace are NRDS (Not Red Don't Shoot.) Be warned though, attacking anyone that is not shooting you first is an instant KOS (Kill On Sight) and you will be killed from then on. Also, targeting anyone is deemed to be an act of aggression so do not even do that. Most of the time you can get in and be fine. Y-MPWL and KBP7-G are the 2 best entry points from High sec. Again, follow rules, don't loot/salvage someones stuff, steel rat kills from someone else, or shoot/target anyone and you will be fine. Another rule is if a member of a gate camp defense fleet asks you to leave the area (around the gate or where ever they are) then do so. Welcome to 0.0 and enjoy your stay.
Please also remember that this is still 0.0 and you can not be 100% protected from being attacked.
Btw, no one will make you pay to use Providence space.
