o/ i have a fps drop issue when scanning, it happens the moment i release a probe the moment i try to drag a probe around, the moment i scale it's scan-range and ESPECIALLY the momentS when my probes are warping to their new coords on average i get around 100-110 FPS 1280x1024 all options maxed, interval immediate.
when probes warp, fps is probably 1, possibly 0, the game kind of freezes, and right after they're finished positioning themselves things go smooth again. i thought it could be that my system was filled with all sorts of software *residue* so i did a complete reinstall. i have vista x64 intel pentium D 3.2Ghz 4Gb ram, nvidia 9600GT, did all windows updates, installed the latest directx redist(directx_mar2009_redist) its not such a major issue, it doesnt affect gameplay *that* much, but it's frustrating nonetheless, especially when i see youtube videos that are probably frapsed going so smooth. thanx, hope someone can help me out :)

I have an other one, my FPS seem to be rising and falling in a rythm of about a second. What's that? --- "Multiple exclamation marks are a sure sign for a diseased mind." -Terry Pratchett |

I have the same problem, when initiating a move order or scan the system seems to freeze for a short period before proceeding. I also experience a drop in frames per second when looking closely at the the new salvaging effect.
My spec for comparison:
abit A-S78H AMD Phenom 9500+ 64bit 8gb DDR2 800mhz 128bit Geforce 9600GSO 1gb (+ Latest official non-beta drivers) Creative X-Fi soundcard (+ Latest official non-beta drivers) Vista ultimate x64

Its a memory leak. I am still wondering why ccp is being so lame not fixing it.

They don't need to fix it, they just need to revert to the previous graphics. Those let you actually see what you were doing instead of trying to hide everything in the system with the stupid new probe spheres. Also, it has come to my attention that I'm really in need of a proper signature. |

I think it's flux capacitor that needs replacing.
