well i do not live far from this monster and is not the only one there 3 of 4 of them in the same big hole but this one is the bigest.
it is HUGE and i meen HUGE, it drives like 1m per minute and they have to make special road for it.
It is cheaper to move it then to take it apart and rebuild it,
and this meens that they have to cross roads, fields,golf courses,bridges, in strait line with the direction he has to travel and it is never stops it travels day and night.
In this case this place is about to cross it is a golf course in Nordrhein-Westfalen Germany and the golf course name is "Mulendong" i know i was there and seen it.
and yes LOTS and LOTS of VELT to mine with this bugger.

I would like my Minmatar ship to look like that. It would be kinda fun to kick up to ramming speed with that buzz saw looking thing on the front going at full rpm.

I would like my Minmatar ship to look like that. It would be kinda fun to kick up to ramming speed with that buzz saw looking thing on the front going at full rpm.

I work for the company that makes those huge off road trucks and alot of the mining equipment that goes with them. That particular machine is made by a company that is partially owned by my company and a supplier to them as well.

My Grandfather used to drive what was at the time the largest excavator in Europe until some European country built a bigger one. It was like a huge blue factory - on tracks. That thing was ENORMOUS. you could park several cars in its rear "bucket" alone.
Then i saw the thing in your link.
holy jebus that thing really is a monster, look at the people below it.
an awe inspiring feat of engineering.

I am curious if this is one of those monster's from the Syncrude Ft. McMurray tar sands.
Had the opportunity to see these things extremely upclose....made me feel so inadequate.
I remember the fellow from the Delta Catalytic company telling our work group that it went through something like 18 drums of oil per day to keep it running. That's some time ago, so my memory could be a little vague.
Needless to say, that whole area of Syncrude brings new meaning to the phrase "Supersize"

Been in front of one of these monsters. Looks even bigger in reality, two tracks alone are as big as a house.
