Hey,
I am just getting into the POS side of the game. I read all the guides on setting up, im just wondering now if a small moon mining operation is profitable?

If you can find a profitable moon, sure. Most are probably taken already, but there may be some left out there if you look in the cracks of the universe.

check the markets for what moon products are selling well... certain advanced materials sell of for a decent price but couldn't tell you for sure what the profit margin is to produce them.

The rarest ones are the most profitable (usually), but if there are any free ones out there, I'd be highly surprised.

That has some good info, though there is one glaring typo in the complex reactions chart, the bottom right number should be 200, not 2.
www.eve-central.com or www.eve-metrics.com is a good place to research prices.

Moon mining is profitable only with the right ressources as stated above. I made some math and harvesting gases (even 2 different gases AND simple reacting them in a medium pos to Silicon Diborite which was the best thing I could make with gases depending on Jita's price) is not profitable at all unless you've got other POSes chaining somewhere.
I would gladly accept some wisdom, especially if I screwed up my math on gases profitability. I'll keep looking for more moons and add my 2 cents when one small POS will really be profitable (which leaves me, selling high demand / price raw ressources).
ps : sorry 'bout my english, industrial noob inside too
