I wasn't really sure if there was a forum that was specifically for this, but I checked and there wasn't any except the Eve New Citizen Q+A forum, but I'm not exactly new. Anyways, would it be worth it to have a mining alt? By worth it, I mean the alt being able to supply both the main account and the mining account with plexes every month and having more ISK left over to pay for ships I may want on the main account?

TBH I'm only around 3 months old to EVE, so I am not sure what an Orca -really- does for mining.

Imagine having your very own pos/carrier that goes with you where ever you want to go with all your relevant stuff safely packed away inside its lovely 250k ehp hull. 100k m3 of cargo space along with an unscannable 40k m3 corporate hanger to haul extreme high value cargo plus 400km3 of maintainence bay to store your rigged ships for transport. If your in a system with no stations you can also use it to refit in space. It also has bonuses to tractor beams, asteriod scanners and mining link command moduals though it can fit up to three of any type regardless of role. All in all its the ultimate ship for an out and about player with 2 accounts and wanting to maximise his isk per hour as it fill so many useful duties.

no, it wont. there are resons for having a mining alt, but this is beyond the capabilities of a mining alt UNLESS you spend far more time on the mining alt then the main, in which case why not have a mining main and a PvP alt?

id say make a mining/manufact alt
but mainly manufact
u mine ur minerals to start but once u get ur BP researched a bit and are making some good profit can start using ur profit to buy minerals instead of mining them...and it just goes on from there :P

The only thing I'd ever mine is ice if I could convince myself to deal with POS again.

You could make money by selling off the ice or the processed materials providing you have good ice refining skills...not very many people like spending hours at an ice belt.

I have 3 accounts. This one here is a jack of all trades. Combat and Manufacturing with a barge for mining. Then, I have a PURE combat toon whose only deviation from combat is industrial hauler skill (she follows my barge around at times to haul rocks) and my 3rd account is a pure research and hacker/archaeologist.
Eventually, I'll end up with just this one and the combat toon as I don't have much drive to play that research toon. I just use her to bake BPOs and harvest exploration nodes from time to time that this toon here finds for her.

So exactly how many minning alts and an orca pilot would it take to become plex self sufficent, assuming no more than 3 hours per day mining.
