Because resetting sov also removes all of their towers from that space, preventing them from mounting any sort of "defense."

Because what you just said doesn't make any sense... the advantages gained from disbanding an alliance are clear, we don't need you to sum them up again. And you are actually trying to make it seem you had a hard time removing all of those towers? C'mon.... However not being able to cash in on them and having such a hard time in general is rather fail...

When the sov flipped to Sov1 - Goonswarm we had the exact same defenses as Kenzoku when they reformed and gained Sov1 across the board. What's your excuse then?

To be fair, Goonfleet was at a significant disadvantage. We had to project force across 40-something jumps and didn't already have 500 Sov claiming POS in place.

ohh come on...being rational would be to say that you were successful, but not that you had a huge disadvantage.
When the sov drop happened, every single entity in Eve was in Delve. From roaming gangs, to random alliances, to your huge nap-orgy. What exactly can you defend in such a situation? That was the best opportunity for anyone who disliked BoB, to take them out. And that's what happened.
Please don't misstate the obvious of the truth. It annoys the heck out of me. For me?

I like how now it's all of *Eve* vs. Kenny when Kenny's NAP train has ours beat by a good 20 or so Alliances.
Regardless, Kenny collapsed like the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in a head wind, 500 POS didn't just suddenly shoot themselves into reinforced over a period of 3 months.
And we suck at PvP, so that must really hurt.

The situation was the same when we moved in. Why were we succesful and KenGoku losers? KenGoku also had allies so you should really stop beating that dead horse.

Being rational would be to say that having 500 towers, a 7-day head start on sov claim, and lots of locally-available assets gleaned from years of milking a broken region would put you in the best position to control a region, and getting steamrolled out instead is failure on a hilarious scale.

... except AAA, unfortunately.

weird. so number of alliances is what counts, not number of members ?
dotlan alliances by member count
so goon+allies is close to 15,000 members and gbc is around 9000, give or take a small alliance or two on either side
/calculators are like 3 bucks at walgreens /waits for goobie to list 18 alliances that have 1 killmail each so he can included them in fail math

In Ursh'Kahn world alliances that fight for you, fleet up with you, die with you and are set blue to you shouldn't be considered part of your forces?
Really?
