I was wondering if anyone else has problems on the mac (iMac) with fleet audio? Mine always seems to screw up and causes me to have to log and sometime reboot to fix the issue.
I get two problems.. 1 will be where I can't hear what the other people are saying because the voice gets garbled up and sound like they are talking under water. 2 is others will complain my comms are breaking up.
Any ideas on fixes, because it gets quite annoying while trying to fleet, if I can't understand others and they can't understand me.

this is a common issue with eve voice. It isn't a Mac only issue, it is a ISP/latency issue. We have problems in fleet ops using Eve voice that is why most use Ventrilo or TeamSpeak, if you go that route make sure you use the mac compatible speex codec.
Eve is a harsh place you won't always have everything go your way, its a do or die world and people do what they can to get along, so before you quit,

Agreed. But unfortunately the majority of corps and alliances use TS. Thanks all racial gods they do use the speex codec giving us a chance.

I've had same issues with Eve Voice. I found that alot of times if I just drop voice and then turn it back on the problem will be resolved.

Yea, I do that all the time as well, but it doesn't always fix my out going. What I notice is typically when it gets real bad and I close EVE I see a run time error.
I'd use VT if I could but I'm flying in FW and everyone use the EVE fleet voice so there isn't much choice in not using it.

it could be a QOS issue.. I don't know what protocol Eve voice uses.. but some ISPs will lower the Quality of Service on voice transmissions that are not there own, and there is nothing you can do up contact them and complain, but they are going to deny they are doing it.

I've always had great luck with EvE voice on the Mac client. Since the latest expansion however, I've only used it once and experienced some performance issue with FPS and some lockups. Otherwise I've had exceptional stability with the client. I've heard some of my Windows client corp mates complaining about FPS and eve voice recently and I'm not sure if this is new or not. We usually use Vent, but I'm going to be keeping a closer eye on eve voice and any performance issues associated to see if there is something new going on.

I too have been having audio problems with Eve Voice. Most of the time I simply can't hear anything and then after about seconds, the audio closes. I can re-open, but still no voice chatter and again after 10 to 30 seconds, it closes the audio chat. I pressed the "troubleshoot" button on the client console and it said that I have en error number 33 but doesn't give enough of an explaination for me to be able to fix. any ideas? |
