Edited by: Eddie Icon on 11/05/2009 03:43:42 Edited by: Eddie Icon on 11/05/2009 03:43:14 Hi everyone,
So i am a returning player (not so experienced and stared new char) and with my alts money backing i find myself really enjoying courier contracts. Now atm i am mostly sticking to high sec space runs bringing me small but decent profits.
Now i have got my mate to play with, we decided to make a corp and get into lower sec jobs, but this is where i am wondering now.. I love the idea of our corp running courier job, fighting off the priates after we take the contract to deliever etc.
So my point/question is i guess.
Is this fesable? Maybe after a while and some training we could join an alliance and help the alliance with hauling/courier jobs? would that work? - hows the alliance contract scence? Beacuse idealy, we wouldnt always want to be a 2man outft.
Or should i come to the realisation that its a dream and join another more setup corp? Though a big part of me doesnt want to give up :P
Thanks for any suggestions, advice etc.

The good thing about eve is you can do whatever you want. Anyone could of course come in here and advise you on what to do, but, its up to you to make a go at whatever your goals are.
With anything in eve, I would give it a try and see for yourself. I could tell you what I think but I won't. Ill just let you know, that with the proper ship setup and knowledge, hauling through low security is a pretty manageable venture. Finding the demand will be your biggest hurdle.
As to enjoying hauling, your nuts.

Well, my advice would be to train up the skills for a T2 hauler (preferably the ones that can fit the cloaking devices) and just give low sec hauling a try. If you like it then you could look at either joining an existing corp and hauling stuff for them, or stating your own and trying to create your own markets in low sec (tough, but it might be a fun project). Whatever you choose, best of luck.

Forgot to post something constructive so here it is;
To haul through low-sec space with minimal losses you would really need a Blockade Runner, it's the T2 Transport with the ability to warp cloaked. Now even with that you are not guaranteed against losses but you will find that they are minimal if at all. Also using a scout (covert ops alt preferred) you will be making your trip as safe as possible and should not run into any trouble.
In low-sec you will find pirates either on gates waiting for people to travel through or pirates who are opportunists i.e. see something killable, they will give it a go. Most these pirates will be pretty organised so you have to use your wits.
There is plenty of isk to be made through hauling into low-sec, be it as a courier or as a trader. The main issue though is getting the business or finding goods that you can buy and sell at profit but using your head you should find the iskies. Also as for later joining an alliance, if you are providing hauling services and are good at what you do then you might want to consider keeping out of an alliance and instead work for a number of alliances, this way you are going to be reducing the effect of alliance politics on your business.
Whatever you do, good luck. ☺ A Kirra Liu Presentation. Will give cyber for GTC ☺ |

Yea i am training up to a transport ship, which i read is the best. Still a good way off though!I only have the instustrial ship so far, but it does fine in the high sec areas.
I was also thinking, for the smaller sized contracts into low sec, which ship would you advise? Im not going to take the big ship for a contact weighing 200m3.. a cruiser? 2xwarp stabiliser and built for agil and speed? would that work? thoughts?
well, if anyone needs a courier in the future ill be around... :)

Take up trading, much more profitable.
And no alliance is going to just 'let you haul their stuff'.
