Bought too many games this weekend - namely Braid, Plants vs Zombies, Cryostasis and Zeno Clash.
Straight off the bat - BUY BRAID. Do it now. NAO. You don't expect storyline in a platform game, nor do you expect bendy time. For ú10 its definately worth the green.
Plants vs Zombies sounds daft but is actually just an overly amusing defense game. I was a bit weary at first, but if you want a game to play when you really can't be bothered to put effort in - PVZ is where its at.
Cryostasis is pretty much Bioshock in a boat in the arctic. Okay, its a bit more refined than that - You have some crazy mental powers and the combat is painfully slow. If theres an award for the slowest ****ing Mosin Nagant, its getting pinned straight to Cryostasis - that said, its a pretty fun game. Its not combat-focused at all, more story than anything. But I can't help but think the healing device is a bit weird... Heat. Time heals all wounds, but in Cryostasis, a nice warm lamp heals all wounds.
And Zeno Clash - well... I think that gets weirdest game of the year award to be honest, play the demo... and wonder what the hell those devs were smoking. First Person ass-kickery is always fun, and you'll find yourself elegantly button bashing your way through most fights. Theres very little roaming (so far) ... most of it has been a cutscene, and then a fight. But hey - its early days yet, but still its nice to play something a bit different.

I've heard good things about Braid, undecided whether to try and get it on XBox Live arcade or for the PC but will prob pick it up at some point. Currently am surprisingly enjoying a racing game on the 360. Not heard of the others but Cryostasis sounds interesting. Well, your comparing it with BioShock is a bold enough claim to pique my interest Once Dragon Age: Origins comes out I'll be lost to the world for a while so any other games that expect to get played this year should really be released sooner rather than later.
I think we also have BioShock II, Hitman V, Thief IV, Deus Ex III, Beyond Good & Evil II (about bloody time!), Diablo III and SW: TOR to look forward to. And with Street Fighter IV, Resident Evil V and FEAR II already released, it's a pretty good year for gaming, even though every one of the above is a sequel -------------
