When I started my miners plan, I remapped to high int/memory for the industrial skills. With one remap left, I'm coming up to the spaceship side of the training plan where you level up spaceship command/mining barge5/exhumer, etc. I have not hit all the 'side' int/mem skills I wanted to but this is my plan to get into a hulk as fast as possible (and be able to compentently use it).
Should I remap to high will/percep now or average my attributes back out for the long haul?

No one has any opinions or suggestions? Does everyone pretty much keep an average attribute map with low charisma or do they cater to what they are focusing in?

Since you refer to a training plan, you should be able to calculate your optimal attributes if you switch now and still want to train all those skills (EveMon can do that for you).
Personally, I went for a 12/12/5/5/5 (Int/Per/rest) distribution while I'm training all skills to level IV. Once I start getting skills to level V I'll switch to Int/Mem or Per/Wil distributions.

If you feel confident that your current careerplan is the one you wanna pursue for the upcomming year then make a skillplan in EVEmon. There's an option that will show you exactly how to spec your attributes to get the fastest training time for your choosen skillplan.
On a sidenote, I tend to think the wiser decission is to go for a more balanced spec with low charisma. You are not likely to loose more then about 20 days (probably alot less) on that one year skillplan. Wich I find a low cost to pay for being able to choose side track training paths and all the goodies that makes this game worthwile.
You don't want to be locked down on one training path for a whole year for the sake of a few less days. Unless you are super hardcore of course. Or heck, come to think of it I don't know. It's all personal preferences and whatever floats your boat.
Good luck!

Edited by: Chathe on 12/05/2009 21:12:14 I haven't remapped from my original build, and haven't played around with the idea of an orca alt.
My suggestion. List the stuff you plan on using. ie what drones for taking care of belt rats. what shield stuff for taking care of tankng said belt rats what hull stuff for cargo hold etc what mining stuff what you actually need to fly a hulk ye' olde' learning skills / implant skills. refining skills ( enough skills to mission a bit to get your standing up enough to not get the bejebus taxed out of your refines )
throw all that into evemon shake it around a bit and see what you've got.
the flying a hulk are bit is fairely low on the list of skill points.
you've got spaceship command 4 - 1 ( won't take all that long ) mining barge 5 - 4 x ( the scary one ) exhumer 3 - 5 x ( won't take very long )
then ask yourself what you're going to train for the rest of the year, it'd have to be alot of per/will stuff to justify specing that way, but you'll be able to shoot lots of guns / missiles / fly alot of ships.
no one can tall you how to build your character.
heh on a side note you might not want to have a low cha because of all the leadership crap to fly an orca...

I think it depends a lot on how many sp you have already trained... If you're just starting out it's hard to focus on only Perc/will skills or Int/mem skills and thus a mixed attribute distribution will be more beneficial...
On the other hand if you have 50 mil SP you'll have a pretty easy time doing only perc/will skills for a year without gimping yourself completely... And if you need to deviate a bit it's not a disaster, we've had to train some skills with crappy attributes before this whole respeccing thing anyways...
