My solution is typically to bring back the original intention of MWDs.
Add a 90% lock range and scan resolution penalty.
There we go, every pvp ship in EvE will get more powerful as the various strengths and weaknesses in speed come into play more.
ABs were always supposed to be the combat propulsion modules, not MWDs.
Even now, the difference between them is silly. Using an MWD, a ship that is supertanked, can move faster than the same ship fitted for speed and using an AB. Who wins the theoryfight? The MWD of course.
This whole idea of going ultra fast is what did more damage to EvE as a game on the whole than it ever helped. People want to be able to get out of a dumb decision with little effort.
I'd bet that pvp on the whole would be vastly more fun with no MWDs.

Today on a LFA roam we managed to take out a Vagabond,a Jaguar and an Ares, All of whom tried to MWD back to gate (and these aren't slow ships). The gang in the OP was Severely lacking in tackle, One ship is not enough, I'd say three is the minimum if you want a decent chance.

Quote: Frigates should have a very high chance, cruisers intermediate, battlecruisers rarely, and battleships never (IMO).
That's pretty much how it is with a competent camp.

Since they added the scram to the tackle equation it's a tool I think most gangs should bring given the choice.
Again, it's not a matter of scan res. When gatecamping, most targets will appear outside the range of webs and short range scrams. You need a fast ship to get in range before they can build up speed with the MWD. I've been caught before in an mwd'ing HAC but you have to get the short scram and web on within seconds of the ship decloaking to prevent them building up sufficient inertia. EDIT: Or bring several fast-locking tacklers and spread them around.

An alternative solution might include the use of certain recon or electronic attack ships which not only have the potential to lock very fast but also can throw a scram or web out to a quite reasonable range...

Again, this line of thought started with talk of lowsec gatecamps. Recons will need either a big gang or RR support to tank sentries and electronic attack ships can forget about it. 0.0 or war gatecamps are another beast entirely, and interceptors etc are all perfectly feasible ships to use here.

MWD'ing back to the gate when faced with a GC fielding one tackle ship? Why am I not surprised?

No, what I am saying is that unless you have three guys fit with full tackle the odds of me being in a spot where I can get two MWD pulses off before they get my MWD disabled is high.
So you are saying that gate campers fail, then, because that would be the only explanation for needing that much tackle. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

AND STOP USING THE ****ING MWD IF YOU WANNA GET DESTROYED. AND AFTER THAT GTFO OF THE FORUMS.

No. No its not.
The gatecamp you found just failed. Any competant gatecamp would have killed you.

What you talkin bout???
All that was needed to be done was 1 ship not to get agro, and jump with him to the other side. Plated BC sure won't warp quickly enough and if he trys to go back to gate again.....well gang is waiting on other side.
If you failed to kill 1 bc with gate camp....well, you just fail.

The game mechanics are not broken. You did nothing wrong. The Gate Camp did.
Nothing to see here. Move along.

Well it's a good thing then that the incoming agility change will have some effect on reapproaching gates as well... ---

this is more of a sad sign on how crap webs are even on web specialised ships rather than a problem with the mwd.

They're changing it again? The only agility changes that have been planned recently came in with apoc 1.1 ______________________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008
