So how much more damage should I expect from T1 to T2 drones?
Im currently using Vespa I and training for Vespa II. still dont have drones V which unlocks the good Drone Interfacing +20% per level :)
question is: with same skills, how better is Vespa II compared to Vespa I??? I checked the show info tab, and they both say Kinetic Damage:24, and rate of fire: 4s

T2 drones have a raw +20% DPS "built in", and another 2% per level of racial drone spec skill. So, at "all L5" skills, it's 1.2*1.1=1.32, or +32% raw DPS.

Edited by: Kinetic Wolf on 13/05/2009 16:15:02 Damage modifier: 1.45 vs 1.75
but what does this mean? 1.75/1.45 = 1.20, this is the 20% you talking about?
oh then the big difference is on skills :) i wonder if they are accumulative or not. For example: its not the same 1.05^5 (better) than 1+(0.05*5) (worse) . When talking of Drone Interfacing this is a lot of difference.
thanks

Yes, that's the 20% extra I was talking about. And I gave you an example on how to calculate... L5 skills at 2% per level means a 10% bonus from that skill, and you multiply all effects from different sources together.

Rubbish. That's just you being redundantly patronizing. OP is aware that they improve damage, he was asking how much, not whether they did so. In fact, knowing how much whatever skills improve their dmg output might help decide which are worth training the most/first.

P.S. Hint : look at the "damage modifier" attribute.
Or for a fraction of the time train up drones 5 and drone interfacing 2 which will give you 40% more damage.
The real bonus of course will come when you have drone interfacing as well as t2 drones.

Or we could cut to the chase and just say "almost 100 thermal DPS from 5x Hobgoblin II at max skills on a ship with no drone bonuses"

Combat Drone Op 4, Drone Interfacing 4, Scout Drone Op 5, Gallente and/or Caldari Drone Spec 3 (also Minnie droen spec if you plan to do some PVP, don't bother with Amarr drones). Should take about two weeks or thereabouts to complete and give you the optimal "effectiveness per time spent training" ratio for now, IMO. Later on, you can consider (in this order) <racial> Drone Spec 4, Combat Drone Op 5 and then Drone Interfacing 5.

I've got Drone Interfacing to V, Gallent spec to IV, plus prereqs. Even then some Elite frigs take a bit a time for a flight of Hobgoblin II's, Warrior II's or whatever. Using T1's on these aren't really an option. Firing cruises at them is really futile, so your options are really limited.
Any time spent on drone skill training is not wasted.

DI V might not be worth your time right away if your not flying Gallente... but drone skills should be invested into atleast to some basic point..
imo CAP management skills > Tank skills > Main Weapon system skills >= (Targeting/support for main weapon) >Secondary weapon skills

The original question seems to be answered, so I'll just say this.
Getting drones V will provide a 25% bonus over drones IV and over 66% on Drones III.
Get those extra drones out there ASAP by training drones V (I'm assuming you're in a ship that has enough drone bandwidth of course).
Drone interfacing will then provide 20% per level - train this up 2 or 3 levels before training T2 drones would be my advice. ______________________ Isn't it time you learned to fight back? Agony Unleashed Home of the PvP University.

Adding to that, if you use a boat with drone dps bonus and max your drone dps skills and use T2 drones, drones will hit for omgwtfbbq damage.

Oh, yes they do. My Combat and support skills suck, but I have Drones, Drone interfacing and Scouts to V, then Gallente Drone specialization to III, and when missioning in my Myrmidon things pop up in seconds. I don't even have Signature Analysis (LOL), so sometimes my drones kill faster than I can target and move to other enemies by themselves.
Gallente droneboats + Drone skills = this noob's choice. I just CANNOT wait to get my greasy hands on some Ogre IIs and kick some NPC BS ass. http://www.geocities.com/vagrantweapons/db.jpg |

Here's a hint, if you train Drones from IV to V, your damage increases 20% because of the extra drone.
Don't fly a drone ship without it.

It's actually 25% more (You had 4 drones and you add an extra one. One is 25% of Four)
But I agree you should get Drones V ASAP - besides it's a pre-req for the advanced drone skills. ______________________ Isn't it time you learned to fight back? Agony Unleashed Home of the PvP University.

Also don't forget that T2 drones are a bit faster. So not only do they kill things quicker, they also fly faster to their next kill which should help a lot when there are a lot of rats.

And they won't explode in two seconds if you forget to aggro the entire room or another spawn...spawns. Drone Durability is a must as well, and you need Drones V for that too.
