If you are experiencing a "black screen" issue, then try downloading and applying this patch http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/evepremiumpatch88517-88737_m.exe to update from Apocrypha 1.2 to a new 1.2.1. We believe this will resolve the issue.
Please note that this patch has not had a lot of testing yet, so I strongly recommend that you make a backup copy of your EVE folder before applying the patch.
Let us know in the thread if this resolves your issue.

I got the black scren, them I re-installed eve, still black screen....
The patch fixed the problem...

If you are not experiencing the "black screen" issue then you do not need to apply this new additional patch.

CCP Explorer posted it elsewhere where I spotted it first.
But yes, after still having blackscreen after a full reinstall I found that this patch solved it for me.
Thank you both for a quick solution.
And I still don't have the right portrait showing after many many months. :'( |

can confirm this patch fixes the black screen issue in ubuntu 9.10 / wine 1.1.21

on another note: Its about time you acted quickly on an issue that affected many players, now you just need to do the same for the eve.exe errors, auto-patch errors, crc errors etc

I got the new patch msg on the laptop, so i updated, to 88737. i didn't have issues with black screen before this. I don't now either. My PC just started up as normal, no new patch prompt, and is running 88517.
Is this ok?
I'm lost.
