I started playing EVE, well, yesterday really. Made a new character, started working through the tutorials. All well and good - then something hit me:
Shouldn't I have some attribute points to distribute? I mean like intelligence, perception, willpower, etc...? I know the races start with these stats assigned, but I thought we were given the option to move a few points around. I have never been presented with this option - should I have been?
Thanks for any help :)
P.S. The is a GREAT game - wish I'd started playing 6 years ago!

There is a button for that right next to those very attributes.

OK great - is it too late for me to do that now? And once I've done it, can it ever be done again. And... does it make any difference shifty a few points around?
Apologies for all the questions... :)

Edited by: Alexeph Stoekai on 15/05/2009 09:58:28 New characters have two attribute respecs. That means you can alter your starting attributes two times. After that you will have to wait for six months or a year (don't recall what they finally settled on).
EDIT: To answer the question whether or not it makes a difference, the Attributes decide your training speed. If you look on a skill you will see what attributes it draws upon for training. The speed at which you train any given skill depends on the points you have in the related attributes. -----

Ok gotcha... so a new character does not in fact have a pool of unspent points to distribute as they want? The only way to change the starting attributes is to respec...?

This was changed last month. In the old character creation system each race/bloodline started with different attributes and you could distribute some of the attributes freely. In the new system (introduced last month) all characters start with the same attribute distribution (8/8/8/8/7) and get the option of 'respeccing' the attributes twice to anywhere from 5 to 15 (with a 39 total).

OK this is now clear to me. Thanks to everyone who took the time to respond...
