hi. is it best to fly a dramiel in super close like 500m orbit, or our farther closer to falloff. reason i ask is that Dramiels have a bonus to falloff range so i was windering if they are supposed to be flown out far. |

Buzz around 200km or so away from a gate, waiting for idiots in t1 frigates to try to burn out to you; then, kill one of them and warp. |

You would also be better off flying a Drake or something else fairly durable if your goal is to awox. |

TL;DR it depends.
With both a tracking bonus and a fall off bonus + drones, you have a choice depending on what you are fighting. You will have to get a feel for which is best taking into account different factors such as are they alone or is it a PvPPPP situation, ship type, are they close range or long range fit, are they ab or mwd fit, probable pilot skill, how many webs do they have if any. These are just several of the factors that come into play when deciding whether to kite or orbit.
All AF's (minus the enyo) lack a tracking bonus, so it is possible to get under their guns, though if you are dual prop and they have a web, this is less likely. When engaging multiple targets solo, I try and split them up by kiting them, then brawl them down once I feel like I have sufficiently split them up.
When all else fails, over heat your prob mod(s) and GTFO. |

I just seriously told you. To fly a Dramiel, buzz around way outside of engagement distance; eventually, some idiot will burn straight at you, and you will turn on your guns and he will explode. |

Answer is:
If enemy in frigate hull then { at edge of scram range } else { if target has two webs or a medium or large neut { run away } else { orbit as close as possible } }

You orbit at whatever range is worst for your opponent. If he's in a small ship with a neut and short range guns, use Barrage and orbit outside of web/neut range. If he's in a big ship or using long-range guns or something and no neut, orbit in close and hit hard. It also depends on if you're AB+scram fit or MWD+point or some combo thereof.
There's no one range that's always right, the Dram has the CHOICE to engage at close range or longer range, use that choice to your advantage in any given fight. |

Good day, Awoxina Dojona:
Hopefully, if you are going to fly a Dramiel (or any of the faction ships), you've trained up each side to at least 4 (and for frigates, go all the way to 5); that, plus be able to fit t2 on it.
(Myself included in the mix in terms of my own losses) I've seen too many people fly expensive ships they were not ready to fly; and be shot down before you know it.
Thank you.

Good day, Maz3r Rakum:
http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=12558003 -- maybe you can share how to and how not to fly a Dramiel, Maz3r Rakum, but since The Imperial Fedaykin spends most of their time camping stations, maybe there's not much to share but trolls.
See you on the battle field some time... oh, wait, maybe not since you station hug so much.... maybe not....
Thank you.

Since The Imperial Fedaykin is well known in Minmatar Faction Warfare for station hugging, can you please share your success and failure stories while flying a Dramiel that was not hugging a station?
Thank you.
Cool story. Scroll up, I responded to the op, instead of some drivel regarding space money and expensive internet space ships. |

Good day:
In response to the orbit issue. Like engagement, it depends on the parties involved.
In terms of actual experiences...
Solo Dramiel vs. Hurricane
Not all Hurricane fits use neut's; if they do, stay outside of neut rage (12km for non faction, T2 neut).
If no neut, then get under the guns, otherwise you are at the edge of neut range to max disruptor range. Take out drones first using your guns and your own drones. Then go for the ship.
I would have to hunt for other kills, but one of the reasons a Dramiel is considered op is that a good pilot can typically take on most of any type ship with a Dramiel.
If you learn the most common fits for a given target, then either fly under their guns or outside the range where they do the most damage.
Learn your ammo types, try to know the target before you engage so you can pre-load what might be the best type, and experiment with fits that work.
The problem with a Dramiel, however, is that it is easy to fly it poorly.
Even a good pilot can get so overconfident flying a Dramiel, that even when it is the Dramiel pilot and another (whether there or soon incoming), can theoretically kill the target, against an experienced pilot, the Dramiel dies.
If you want real practice with your Dramiel, fly solo around Verge Vendor seeking out other solo pilots.
Thank you.
