Today I noticed a hidden layer of sounds in eve that gave me a completely new experience.
Firstly, turn off the eve music and put world volume on full. Now get any ship you like and just fly around. Flying around stations you'll hear distorted radio transmission and sutble droning noises that can actually be quite interesting. Activating modules gives you an array of noises from an armour hardener to a cloak. You'll hear the dull throb of the ship's engines change as you accelerate and then slow down, each class of ship has a different intensity. Hover around a stargate and listen to the sound it makes when it's not shooting people in another system. Fly up next to a stranger and you might hear the sounds of their ship.
This was a very relaxing experience and it even gave me a sense of solitude and lonliness, and it gave a real sense of size to the things around me. Don't go off and start shooting things, just be passive for a little while and take a look around the solar system.
Don't post with something as stupid as "eve has sound?" here because it has some amazing audio if only your kind of people gave it a listen once in a while. There are times when the sound can be annoying and overwhelming such as fleet battles, and I know some of you don't care for the style of eve's music. But I don't care about that so please refrain from badmouthing the game's audio, and god forbid, you might enjoy trying this out for something different.
I think its about time the audio got some praise

It can get some praise when it gets the attention from the devs that it deserves.
Not saying the sounds are bad (and I do happen to like the music), but the audio engine in general is horribly neglected. For example, I prefer to play at a comfortable zoom as opposed to staring into the windows of my ship. I can still see my ship clearly, and that's good enough for me, but I can't hear a damned thing.
Maybe if they gave us more control over how we hear things, more people would prefer to play with their sound on.
Anyway /rant off
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

I totaly aggree, the new sounds system realy is amazing and adds so much to the imersion of the game. CCP realy have done a good job here though there are still afew bugs, sometimes having your scanner and system map open will cause all sound to disapear also moving the camera around to certain points can cut out sound.
More people should turn on world sound and play their own music in the background like I do. _______________________________________

Here's some praise:
- Love the pops and crackles in my ear. Love the total silence when I zoom out. Love when all sounds dissapear as I start stacking hardners. Love that it takes a session change to clear it. Love the sounds of gate activation when I warp to a planet. I love not hearing my guns hit, or ships explode in the distance. Most of all I love the effort the devs put in to sound, as it really was poor in Quantum Rise.
