 Everyone knows EVE has the best eye candy graphics of any online game. I would like to have even more eye candy by being able to paint and put decals on our ships. This could open a whole new area of training and trade. Think of your ship with your own corporation logo on it!

No thanks.
Once EQ allowed armor dyes, pink and blue ogres/trolls running around ruined the 'eye candy'.
Another thing to consider is that is more to display on the screen, causing more lag, and it would most likely be an optional thing added that most people would just uncheck in the video graphics options.

There was a vid at one point of having alliance logo's on the side of your ship but not sure where that went really

Before I brought this game just over a month ago, I watched 10's of video's on Youtube about this game (I like to do my research before I get something).
Anyhow, I also remember watching that video, I believe it was the 2008 Fanfest, towards the end someone from the audience asked if there was any progress made on corporation decals on the ships. I assume it was a developer, he turned around and said they were having alot of problems with it due to the resources needed ingame to get it working.
As well as skewing issues on the larger ships where the logo gets so big it just looks wrong, or on a smaller ship like a Frigate it just swamps the whole thing.
I also believe he said he still have people looking in to it, but it isn't near the top of the list of things they like to do sadly.

However speaking of Eye-candy, I really wouldn't mind the planets being updated now, they look so bland and out of place compared to the shiny ships :P

it's on this site in fact, over in the download videos section.
Also those videos have the coolest engine effects :(
Maybe CCP should change to sm3 only...

I agree. Seeing pink spaceships would be akin to seeing pink hair on a cave troll for me.
